The Legal Compliance Specialist’s (CS) primary function is completing, memorializing and creating communication of regulatory research for the Compliance and Regulatory Services program in support of enterprise compliance requirements. The role contributes to ensuring up to date and accurate regulatory requirements. The primary research focus is specific to requirements for working in a variety of healthcare and school settings and includes, but is not limited to, required registrations, background checks, health-related documentation and other employment requirements. Research requests will be received from a host of partners and stakeholders including Credentialing or Clinical and Sales departments, in addition to research assigned directly by compliance and legal leaders. The research is completed through detailed and consistent research methods. In addition to the position’s primary regulatory research function, other compliance responsibilities will be assigned in alignment for priorities.

Job Responsibilities

  • Completes semi-final research, analysis and interpretation of state, county and federal requirement research, related documentation including regulatory communications and consultation with state departments, programs and boards (50%) 

  • Consult with state departments, programs, and boards (10%)

  • Participate in and support AMN Regulatory Committee and state requirement implementation work groups (10%)

  • Organize and maintain documentation of research results (Research templates, Regulatory Memorandums) and related internal publications. (10%) 

  • Monitor and track regulatory, legislative developments and bills through established sources and frequency (10%)

  • Complete other duties as assigned (10%) 

  • Serve as a regulatory subject matter expert additionally informed by AMN business knowledge specific to various healthcare disciplines, specialties, practice settings and state licensure/licensure compacts.

  • Analysis includes both prescribed requirements and those specifically determined through policy decisions.

  • Applies a standardized research process that includes various sources such as bills, codes, statutes, regulations, state agency guidance (including FAQs), government websites, policies, procedures, and contracts.

  • Communicate research findings to stakeholders both verbally and written in a manner that is concise, plain language with expert level documentation of technical research sources and analysis.

  • Assist with workflow development and/or implementation and other compliance quality related activities.

  • Demonstrate ability to deal with complex issues while maintaining a flexible positive and cooperative demeanor.

  • Demonstrate adaptability to meet changes in departmental, enterprise and/or healthcare sector needs.

  • Understand and employ a risk-based approach with attention to trend analysis and process improvement opportunities.

  • Proactively identify, communicate and mitigate risks to achieve completion dates and identify potential unintended consequences.

  • Possess outstanding ability to focus, diligence, documentation, create formal written communication, employ analytical skills with a solution-oriented approach.

Qualifications

    Education & Years of Experience

    • High School Diploma/GED plus 5-7 years of work experience

    Certifications

    • Certified in Healthcare Compliance (CHC) (Preferred)

    Additional Experience

    • Experience in regulatory research and analysis

    • Operational experience in staffing, healthcare, audit, or quality positions

    Work Environment / Physical Requirements

    • Work is performed in an office/home office environment.

    • Team Members must have the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards.

      Pay Rate$29.50 - $34.75 Hourly

      Final pay rate is dependent on experience, training, education, and location.
