Technical Writer:

As a Technical Writer for the Software Monetization team, you will be part of a dynamic software engineering team working on several products. You will be working in an Agile environment collaborating closely with the engineering team, with minimum supervision. Your primary role will be to create and edit technical product documentation, such as developer guides, user manuals, web service guides, API reference manuals, installation manuals, help documents, and tutorials. You will need to effectively plan, schedule, research, and write. 

A week in the life of a Technical Writer:

  • Define target audience, outline manuals, and write documentation that is technically accurate and conforms to company's writing style guidelines.
  • Document new features and maintain existing documentation, including online helps and PDFs.
  • Work closely with developers, product architects, and product owners to create technical documentation with a high focus on clarity, completeness, accuracy, and usability.
  • Obtain product information from agile meetings, specifications, supplemental material, and discussions with project engineers.
  • Participate in peer review processes to improve documentation quality.
  • Contribute to develop and maintain existing documentation processes, standards, checklists, and templates.
  • Suggest screen labels and error messages with a focus on improving the customer experience (UX).
  • Create graphics to supplement flow and presentation of the content.

Skills and experience you will gain:

  • Acquire fundamental knowledge of technical writing to help you create effective technical documentation.
  • Learn using the MadCap Flare IDE for content writing.
  • Familiarize yourself with single-source documentation development methodology.
  • Learn how to collaborate and obtain information through research, interviews, and experimentation.
  • Enhance your decision-making and planning skills.
  • Develop hand-on expertise in source control systems, including Git and SVN.
  • Gain proficiency in project management tools, such as JIRA and Confluence.
  • Acquire an understanding of software licensing concepts and various new emerging technologies.
  • Students pursuing Bachelor’s degree or equivalent. Graduates are also welcomed.
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
  • Have a knack for researching and diving deep into a topic.
  • Proactively adapt to a fast-paced environment with changing priorities, tight deadlines, and emerging technologies.

Nice to have:

  • Hobby in Journalism, writing blogs, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with programming and scripting languages.
  • Familiarity with CSS.
