Responsible for the execution of the company’s strategic Land Care Maintenance Program initiatives. This position will assist and support our locations with the implementation and management of internal and external land care teams using proven horticultural principles and cemetery maintenance standards. The includes enhancing land care services for SCI locations to increase cemetery aesthetics, drive cost avoidance, and reduce water usage through technology implementation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide support to market leadership and location staff on all aspects of land care maintenance programs, including -
    • Planning, contracting, execution and management of vendor activities
    • Implementation and management of land care programs
    • Provide support for escalation and resolution of issues
  • Collaborate with various land care and cemetery maintenance vendors, including –
    • Program concepts, scoping, planning and execution
    • Site assessment planning, program analyzation, capital improvement planning and program initiation
    • Negotiate vendor pricing
    • Facilitate program execution monitor progress, report findings and offer process improvement suggestions
  • Develop and share best practices
  • Facilitate technology implementation related to land care maintenance and irrigation water saving technology
  • Build, support, and communicate training for cemetery land care and maintenance skills. 
  • Monitor and report results of land care programs 
  • Stay informed of emerging trends, technologies, and process improvements in land care management

Qualifications:

The successful candidate will have:

  • Proficiency in vendor sourcing and service and product procurement
  • Knowledge of horticulture vendors related to landscape maintenance in cemetery operations
  • Ability to understand and negotiate contracts
  • Ability to handle difficult situations and communicate professionally and effectively
  • A passion for personal accountability, achievement, learning, and continual improvement
  • Superior attention to detail, project management, and organizational skills
  • Ability to identify and recommend methods to resolve problems, simplify tasks, enhance outcomes, and optimize existing processes
  • Strong business acumen, including budgeting, forecasting and analysis
  • Ability to envision and drive improvements to the cemetery maintenance program
  • Strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to adapt to various stakeholder groups
  • Focus on providing excellent customer service to internal customers   

This role Requires:

  • Requires remaining up to date on all aspects of land care within the company’s policies and procedures
  • Understands local environmental challenges, labor challenges and cost pressures
  • Is a non-management position with no direct reports
  • Periodic seasonal travel (~25%)

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field preferred
  • Three (3) years of experience working in the Buyer field
  • Two (2) years of experience communicating with managers and executives
  • Two (2) years of experience implementing new programs
