Job Description
About the Role:
We are seeking a Labor Optimization Lead to drive initiatives aimed at optimizing our variable labor costs across our 8 factories in Europe. This role is pivotal in ensuring we maintain a cost-efficient and productive workforce while promoting collaboration between factory teams and key functions. As part of our commitment to continuous improvement, the Labor Optimization Lead will work closely with local factory leadership, HR, operations, and finance teams to understand the unique labor setups of each factory, identify opportunities for cost optimization, and implement tailored solutions that align with our overall business goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Optimize Variable Labor Costs: Analyze and optimize variable labor costs (e.g., overtime, temporary labor, shift patterns, etc.) across all 8 European factories, ensuring efficiency without compromising operational effectiveness or employee engagement.
- Collaborative Partnership: Act as a trusted partner for local factory teams, operations, HR, and finance to identify labor cost challenges, streamline processes, and implement sustainable cost-saving solutions in a non-bureaucratic, collaborative way.
- Data-Driven Insights: Utilize data and analytics to assess labor utilization trends, cost drivers, and productivity opportunities. Develop insights that inform strategic decision-making on labor-related matters.
- Factory-Specific Solutions: Work closely with individual factories to understand their unique needs, operational setups, and labor structures. Propose and implement tailored strategies for labor cost optimization that are practical and fit the local context.
- Continuous Improvement: Promote a culture of continuous improvement in labor cost management. Identify best practices, share lessons learned, and ensure that optimization efforts are aligned with overall business goals.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with other business functions, including operations, HR, supply chain, and finance, to align labor cost optimization strategies with broader business initiatives.
- Training and Development: Provide training and support to factory leadership and relevant stakeholders on labor cost management practices, ensuring that cost optimization strategies are effectively communicated and implemented at the ground level.
- Monitor and Report Progress: Track the progress of labor optimization initiatives, measure their impact, and regularly report on outcomes to senior leadership.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in cost management, operations optimization, or a related field, ideally within a manufacturing or factory environment.
- Strong understanding of variable labor costs and how they are managed in a multi-site, manufacturing environment.
- Experience working in cross-functional teams and developing collaborative relationships with various stakeholders.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and drive decision-making based on insights.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt solutions to local contexts without adding unnecessary complexity.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and drive change at all levels of the organization.
- Fluent in English, with additional European languages being a plus.
- Willingness to travel across Europe as needed to work closely with factory teams.
