Role Overview
Contributing to the delivery of the payroll for Africa Payrolls for approx. 3500+ employees; collating updates and liaising with 3rd party outsource provider Deloitte. The payroll team operate out of locations Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda, Seychelles, Mozambique, Cameroon, and recently in South Africa, Nigeria, Ghana and Southern Europe(Italy, France, Greece, Portugal, Dubai, Lebanon, Spain, are part of the Global HR Operations function.
The team works within an uncompromising monthly time frame, providing a consistently reliable and accurate service within a dynamic environment from both ongoing legislative and Company changes.
For South Africa specifically supporting the market with reward Admin activities that cannot not be managed out of South Africa location.
Market Complexity
- Liaising with employees across the business and multiple countries and supporting them with accurate information
- Partnering with the outsourced payroll provider for all the above payrolls. Complexity involves answering tax queries, addressing maternity and other leave of absence questions, calculating advances, collating overtime, and following monthly checklists and calendars to ensure all data is processed accurately and within agreed timeframes. All tasks are completed in a compliant manner following our GHRO Payroll controls.
- A high degree of technical knowledge is required for multi-country payrolls.
- BBBEE Contact person – Data provider, verification, and document preparation for audits.

Purpose of Role
- To provide a professional and high-quality payroll and reward administration service that ensures Deloitte can pay our employees accurately and on time. A high level of accuracy is required, and the individual must be a subject matter expert on all payrolls to answer technical queries from employees.
- The role demands working in a compliant manner, ensuring all checklists, calendars, variance reporting, KPIs, and journals are completed accurately and on time to meet our CARM controls.
- Provide the payroll provider with data changes in the agreed format and by the specified date on the payroll calendar. Ensuring high data quality and conducting correct validations is imperative.
Role Responsibilities

- Complete tasks in a compliant manner, adhering to IM&S principles. Resolve all queries from employees and other key stakeholders satisfactorily within agreed timescales.
- Maintain technical knowledge of statutory payments and deductions. Manually process payments as required outside the main payroll run.
Support HR and Employees with Calculations:
- Support HR team with the Union negotiation and pre-negotiation calculations
- Manage accuracy of bonuses to our employees by calculate and correcting incorrect inputs from market teams
- DSA – Employee IRP5 Verification
Activities:
- Obtain the COIDA letter of good standing for government compliance
- COIDA calculation and submission
- Track and manage pensioner payments for non-active employees
- Manage bursaries and educational support for dependents
- Prepare and submit UI-19 documentation for retrenchments
- Process purchase orders for vendors
- Managing disability application and process
Manage, support and provide accurate information for completing the required forms
- Manage medical aid change forms and provide them to the third party
- Manage the retirement forms and provide them to the third party
- Provide local fringe benefit letters for company cars
- Beneficiary nomination forms
- Assist employees with filling and ensuring insurance remittance for death and disability cases
- Handle annual forms for medicals and group life cover with Willis Towers Watson.
Communications:
- Prepare, get sign-of on the communications to employees.
- Beneficiary nomination forms
- Communicate changes on the retirement fund to Alexander Forbes.
Experience / skills required
- Induction payroll & reward information training
- Organize training on various contribution and benefits legislative changes and update.
Qualifications and Experience Required
- Degree in Accounting or another related field
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex tax matters to employees in different markets.
- Good understanding of market legislation affecting payroll and statutory reporting.
- Ability to build credibility with all levels and functions across borders.
- Demonstrates numerical skills.
- Experienced in payroll delivery.
- Attention to detail.
- Demonstrates excellent organisational and planning skills.
- PC Literate – Word, Excel, Power point and ability to use pivot tables and VLOOKUP.
