About the role

At Halter, we’re looking for a passionate, energetic, and customer-focused Junior Finance Analyst to join our growing team. Reporting to our Finance Manager, you’ll play a key role in owning the day-to-day financial transactions that keep our business running smoothly. From processing invoices and managing accounts receivable/payable to ensuring our financial records are accurate and complete, you'll be at the heart of our financial operations.

But here’s the twist: this isn’t your typical finance role. We want someone who’s as passionate about our customers and technology as they are about numbers. Our finance function at Halter is all about collaboration. You’ll partner with customers, internal teams, and stakeholders to build strong, impactful business relationships.

We are looking for someone who can grow with us as we scale the finance team. The ideal candidate will have the opportunity to take on increasing responsibilities and contribute to the team's development as we continue to expand.

At Halter, our core values are rooted in “Farmers, Ranchers, Animals, Always.” This isn’t just a slogan – it’s how we do everything, including how we manage our finances. You’ll be helping shape the future of our business with a unique approach to finance that truly puts people at the centre.

If you’re ready to make an impact, help us grow, and be part of something meaningful, we’d love to hear from you! This could be your first role out of university, or you are 1-2 years in the field and want to try something different.

Who are we looking for - these skills are essential for this role and reflect how we operate every day. We expect applicants to demonstrate evidence of these requirements in their resume, cover letter and interviews.

  • Someone who’s not only comfortable with numbers but also passionate about learning and growing in the finance world. If you’re curious, teachable, and love to solve problems, this is your chance!
  • You’re not just focused on the numbers – you get excited about building strong relationships, especially with our customers (farmers).
  • A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or something similar.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are key! You’ll be collaborating with a variety of teams, and your ability to clearly convey information will make all the difference.
  • Comfortable working in a high-volume environment? We need someone who can manage time efficiently, prioritise tasks, and stay organised under pressure. The ability to juggle multiple projects while staying on top of the details is essential.
  • Your keen eye for detail and accuracy will help ensure we’re always on track. Whether you’re reconciling accounts or analysing data, you’re always looking for the finer details that make a big difference.

Bonus things you could bring along to the role - These are not essential for you to apply

  • If you’ve worked with accounting software like Xero, that’s a huge plus!
  • Previous experience with month-end reporting, preparation of balance sheet reconciliations, and completion of variance commentary.
  • Ability to use data visualisation tools - Power BI, Tableau, etc.

What your day could look like

  • Reconcile financial records and bank statements, keeping everything aligned and accurate so we’re always in the know about our financial standing.
  • Maintain spot-on records of all financial transactions, track employee expenses, and manage debtor accounts to keep things running smoothly.
  • Help wrap up the month with end-of-month closure tasks, making sure everything balances and is ready for the next chapter.
  • You’ll get real-world exposure and on-the-job training that will complement your studies and help you apply what you’re learning in a practical setting. Think of this as your financial playground where you can grow and thrive!
  • Support your fellow accounts team members whenever they need an extra hand, ensuring smooth sailing across all financial tasks.

Our Office First Approach

There’s a reason you visit your friends in person, live with your family and don’t do dinners over Zoom. Humans are wired for connection. We believe a world-class, in-person office culture is the best way for high-performing teams.

Being office first is a core pillar of our culture. We believe in-person connections are key to driving your own growth, learning, impact, and building genuine long-lasting relationships. Strong relationships make it easier to disagree, give feedback, and do meaningful and aligned work. We don’t like having heaps of rules or policies, but this means having strong, trusted relationships is critical.

We’re office first, not office only. This means working from the office everyday is our default setting, but we flex when we need to.  We have a high-trust culture, so everyone is trusted to do what’s best for Halter.

Our office vibe is something special, it’s hard to describe until you’re here, but people at Halter who have come from fully remote or hybrid companies say they could never go back - the high energy and spectacular people they are now surrounded by everyday makes work so enjoyable. Your growth, your learning and your impact is truly unlimited here, and a big part of that comes from being together solving problems, innovating, building context, and constantly learning from each other.
