The Company

Cape was founded in early 2022 by Palantir and Anduril alums with deep expertise in privacy and national security. While running Palantir’s US national security business, our CEO became passionate about privacy and security on mobile devices. Our mission is to be a force for good in global wireless.

At Cape, we are not just another cellular service provider; we are the architects of a privacy-centric movement that starts with the devices in your pocket. We are building a cellular network that helps citizens, including those responsible for our nation’s security, regain control of their own data.

We believe that where we are, where we go, and whom we are with are among our most personal information and should be kept private. Privacy is not something you achieve by limiting yourself or by doing less, it is a set of features to be built so you can do more. We have raised money from Andreessen Horowitz and other top-tier VCs, and are excited to grow the team.

The Team

We are relentless builders, constantly pushing the boundaries of what's possible and bringing to life ideas that have never before existed. Innovation is at the core of everything we do. At Cape, we trust our team to deliver greatness and empower them to make a profound impact. As a member of our team, you will collaborate seamlessly with our diverse group of talented engineers and other team members, enjoying dynamic interactions with colleagues from across the organization.

The Role (also the Mission)

We are looking for an IT Support Specialist to support Cape. You will deliver reliable, responsive, and employee-focused technical support that empowers employees to work efficiently and securely. A successful IT Support Specialist thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment, communicates effectively across teams, and brings strong expertise across a wide range of IT software, hardware, and networking systems.

At Cape, we are on a mission to protect privacy and national security through cutting-edge technology. As our IT Support Specialist, you will be at the heart of keeping our team secure, productive, and connected. You’ll deliver proactive, high-quality, and employee-centric IT support that empowers the Cape team to thrive in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys variety, thrives on problem-solving, and takes pride in creating seamless IT experiences that just work.

You’ll be a key contributor in shaping IT systems and practices, helping to build a foundation that supports both our team today and our growth tomorrow.

To join our team, you should be excited to:

  • Engage in a well-funded, early-stage startup. Embrace the scrappy phase and be adaptable to a fast-evolving environment.

  • Address the challenges of balancing personal privacy and technology in the modern world.

  • Utilize your technical prowess to tackle significant problems impacting consumer privacy and national security.

  • Documenting, documenting, documenting, you will be building the internal IT

  • Working in person in our DC office, enjoying a flexible schedule with a mix of in-office and remote work, and contributing to an informal, dynamic culture.

  • Some travel required between our DC and NYC office.

You’ll love this role if you:

  • Thrive in a dynamic, fast paced, early-stage startup where adaptability is key and you find dealing with ambiguity fun.

  • Are excited to help build from the ground up — including our internal IT documentation and systems.

  • Care deeply about balancing technology with personal privacy in the modern age.

  • Want your technical skills to make a meaningful impact on consumer privacy and national security.

  • Enjoy being onsite with your team in our DC office minimum 3 days a week along with occasional travel to NYC.

Here are some ways you’ll make an impact:

  • Keep our team moving: Be the go-to IT expert for onsite support, ensuring employees — including senior leadership — have fast, effective solutions to technical issues so they stay focused on their work.

  • Own IT excellence in the DC office: Establish and maintain a reliable, secure, and well-documented IT environment. This includes but is not limited to: endpoint management, network infrastructure, and AV systems.

  • Build scalable systems: Develop and improve IT processes, from hardware procurement to mobile device management, with a focus on efficiency, security, and scalability as we grow.

  • Proactive problem-solver: Anticipate IT challenges and resolve them before they become roadblocks. Leverage automation and scripting to streamline routine tasks as much as you can.

  • Cross-functional collaborator: Partner with engineering and operations teams to ensure seamless IT support for specialized infrastructure, tools, and environments.

  • Culture contributor: Support an informal, collaborative culture where people feel supported, connected, and empowered by the tech around them.

Are you the candidate we are looking for?

  • 3+ years of hands-on IT support experience, ideally in a fast-evolving tech environment.

  • Strong expertise in Apple laptops and mobile device management (Kandji, Jamf, or similar).

  • Solid experience with endpoint management, network infrastructure, and conference room setups.

  • Familiarity with tools like Okta, OneLogin, Microsoft 365, and Google Enterprise Suite.

  • Comfort with diverse environments (Windows, macOS, Linux) and cross-platform management.

  • Proven ability to manage IT hardware procurement, inventory, and support logistics.

  • Strong troubleshooting skills and a proactive, customer-focused mindset.

  • Ability to automate tasks via scripting (e.g., Bash).

  • Writing/Managing knowledge base articles.

  • Able to lift or carry desktop computers up to 25 lbs.

Bonus Points: (Some nice to haves for this role)

  • Advanced Scripting Knowledge in Bash

  • Experience in Okta Workflows

  • Advanced AV Knowledge

The salary range for this role is $115,000-$135,000 a year + equity + 401K match. Within the range, individual pay is determined by experience, relevant education, and/or training.

Our Culture

  • We are builders, and we choose to spend our time building things that matter. Many of our people have backgrounds in Defense Tech as well as the defense and intelligence community. We build to win.

  • We hire excellent people, give them outsized responsibility, and trust them to execute at a high level. Everyone here has a track record of solving hard problems throughout their careers.

  • We believe that personal privacy and national security interests are not inherently at odds, and can be reconciled via strong technology.

  • We believe that companies exist to build awesome things and take care of their people. Our benefits reflect that– top-tier health care, 401(k) matching, and a generous vacation policy (that we actually use).

  • We hire candidates of any race, color, ancestry, religion, sex, national origin, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, marital or family status, disability, Veteran status, and any other status. Achieving diversity across these categories will serve to make our company stronger and our product better.
