We seek a highly motivated IT Specialist to join our team as the primary helpdesk contact and provide essential IT support across various domains. This role is pivotal in ensuring seamless IT operations, maintaining system integrity, and supporting on-site and remote IT needs. The ideal candidate will have hands-on IT support experience, relevant certifications, and expertise in helpdesk operations, networking, and virtualization.

Key Responsibilities:

Helpdesk Support & Troubleshooting:

  • Serve as the primary helpdesk contact, providing first-line support for IT-related inquiries.
  • Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and network issues efficiently.
  • Ensure timely escalation and resolution of complex IT problems.

Routine System Maintenance & Monitoring:

  • Assist with system updates, patch management, and routine maintenance to ensure security and performance.
  • Monitor and manage virtual environments and firewalls to maintain IT infrastructure integrity.
  • Perform regular backup testing and disaster recovery assessments.

On-Site IT Support & Infrastructure Management:

  • Be available for on-site support when required, including:
    • Provisioning and maintaining network penetration appliances.
    • Supporting physical SOC (Security Operations Center) operations.
    • Conducting data center maintenance, troubleshooting, and upgrades.

Project Support & IT Initiatives:

  • Contribute to ad hoc IT projects, providing hands-on support to meet evolving business needs.
  • Assist in the deployment and configuration of new IT systems and tools.

On-Call & Emergency IT Support:

  • Develop proficiency in participating
  • in an on-call rotation for after-hours emergency IT support.

Required Qualifications & Skills:

  • Proven hands-on experience in desktop support or helpdesk roles.
  • Strong understanding of networking, virtualization, and cybersecurity principles.
  • Experience troubleshooting Windows and/or Linux operating systems.
  • Familiarity with firewall management, backup solutions, and IT security best practices.
  • Ability to work independently and provide effective IT solutions in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Certifications:

  • CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+
  • CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate)
  • Microsoft 365 and Azure Certifications

Salary range: $70,000 - $90,000

Work schedule: Monday through Friday

Work hours: 40 hours a week

This role includes an on-call component, requiring the candidate to be available outside of standard business hours on a rotating or as-needed basis.

Per applicable state laws requiring salary transparency, DirectDefense provides a reasonable compensation range for this role. The estimated salary range for this position is $70,000 to $90,000 per year. Actual compensation may vary based on experience, skills, and location.
