Job Summary
The IT Senior Leader – R&D Technology role is accountable for the strategic direction and delivery of IT services across the DuPont R&D Technology. Reporting into the Director of IT for Technology and Integrated Operations, this role partners with and provides IT thought leadership to the Chief Technology and Sustainability Officer and is an active member on the R&D Technology Leadership Team.
As a leader in a specialty materials innovation company, this role is expected to strengthen strategies and capabilities across multiple industries and geographies. This leader will drive science-based innovation and productivity through IT and digital transformation across the R&D organization. This leader will formulate digital innovation and enablement strategies, define and execute to achieve desired results.
The role is a key interface between the demand requirements of the R&D Technology function and the range of services supported and delivered by IT. Success in the role requires strong collaboration and partnership with the R&D organization to understand needs and partner with IT in a way that includes perspectives across the key disciplines required to support the R&D agenda – Emerging Technologies, Digital Solutions (Advanced Analytics, Data Science, Machine learning, Generative AI, IoT), Infrastructure, Networks, Security and change management.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities

Partners with executive stakeholders to develop strategies aligned to business outcomes, especially growth and productivity

Provides ongoing thought leadership and change management around technology enabling the mission of the global R&D teams in order to increase speed / impact to market

Proposes and drives the solutions required to meet the business needs, coordinating across the IT organization for seamless delivery

Leverages external relationships and partnerships to ensure that DuPont leads contemporary thinking and opportunity in the R&D space

Inspires a team of both direct and indirect reports to deliver against agreed strategies and outcomes

Escalates risk and mitigation strategies as appropriate to IT and business stakeholders for transparency and resolution

Partners with IT Operations to ensure ongoing high-quality support and service delivery
Education & Experience
Required:
-
This role is suited to a professional that has experience in the end-to-end development and delivery of business needs through enabling IT solutions.

15+ years of broad IT or R&D experience with a demonstrated track record of career development and progression.
-
Experience should include 5+ years of supporting a large-scale R&D function including the development of strategic roadmaps and successful outcomes delivery
-
This is a customer facing role that is hands on within the business daily – as such this requires the personality and interpersonal skills to make, manage and maintain relationships across a broad range of clients from hands on users all the way up to functional leadership
-
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science, computer science, information systems, computer engineering, system analysis, or a related field, or equivalent work experience. An advanced degree is a plus.

People leadership experience managing global teams is required

An experienced leader with extensive, successful track record supporting the technology needs of a large, complex, global R&D/innovation organization

Broad ranging, multi-discipline knowledge including the core areas of Emerging Digital Technologies, Infrastructure, Security and Applications and Scientific Methods

Project and program management experience of leading end to end delivery solutions to meet and exceed business requirements; Experience or strong understanding of Agile/SCRUM methodologies is a distinct plus.

Working functional knowledge of the key aspects of a contemporary R&D function; ability to communicate across all levels of the R&D function – to understand R&D business needs and translate these into the required technology services

Understanding of the core components of network design and security

Strong experience with R&D needs such as Connected Laboratories, Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS), GenAI, AI/ML, Informatics, High Performance Computing and Advanced Analytics.

Understanding of the core components and architectures of High Performance Computing environments

Executive level presence and acumen

Ability to form strong/collaborative working relationships across global R&D and IT organizations
