A Day in the LifeThe preferred working location for this role is the Medtronic facility located in Mounds View, Minnesota; however, the individual may also work from another US-based Medtronic facility. Additional work locations may include:
• Fridley, Minnesota • North Haven, Connecticut
• Mansfield, Massachusetts • Eatontown, New Jersey
As the IT Program Director – SAP CoE Solutions, you will serve as a strategic leader driving the planning and implementation of critical SAP solutions that accelerate transformation across Commercial, Supply Chain, and Manufacturing IT value streams.  You will play a vital leadership role in the planning and multi-year transition from our single ECC6 instance and application landscape to SAP S/4. You will own the planning and delivery of end-to-end SAP capabilities from an SAP COE perspective — from planning and estimating, solution design and development, through deployment and post-launch optimization — ensuring measurable business value and operational excellence. 
In this high-impact leadership role, you will blend deep SAP ECC and S/4HANA implementation experience, solution design and development, business process, functional, and data knowledge with hands-on IT program planning and execution for maximum effectiveness. The role requires cross-functional collaboration skills with IT and business stakeholders. Horizontal IT includes (Infrastructure, Security, Enterprise Architecture) and IT Value streams (Commercial, Supply Chain, and Manufacturing).  
In your role as IT Program Director, you will lead the proposal development, scoping and solution design, and planning and estimation of new SAP COE solutions. The leader will partner with IT value streams and functions to develop these proposals for budgeting and business case development. You will own the end-to-end SAP solution lifecycle from a CoE perspective — encompassing solution architecture, planning and estimating, design, build, deployment, and ongoing optimization — ensuring technical excellence, long-term scalability, and measurable business value. You will serve as a strategic and architectural leader driving the planning, architecture, and implementation of enterprise-wide SAP solutions that accelerate business transformation across the Commercial, Supply Chain, and Manufacturing IT value streams.
You will also lead the design, delivery, and implementation of SAP programs from an SAP COE perspective across Commercial, Supply Chain, and Manufacturing domains. Key objectives include:
• Estimate, plan, and deliver S/4 required upgrades such as Hybris, EWM, and ME/MII.
• Estimate, plan, and deliver new business/IT ValueStream solutions such as GTS and MDG.
• Provide leadership to existing business/IT Value Stream initiatives such as Transportation Management.

  • Strategy/Plan: Lead the planning phase for SAP platform solutions including business case development, estimation, requirements gathering, project scoping, and resource allocation.  
  • Design/Architect: Lead the development of the SAP solution design and architecture and alignment with business needs.  
  • Build/Delivery: Lead design, development and implementation of SAP Platform solutions, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and meet quality standards including high availability, performance, and user satisfaction.  
  • Run/Operations: For new capabilities, own hyper care and transition to ongoing support and operations.   
  • Collaboration: Work effectively with the business facing IT teams (including Finance, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Commercial etc.) and IT Horizontal teams (including Infrastructure, Security, Enterprise Architecture, etc). to deliver SAP platform solutions.  
  • Vendor Management: Effectively negotiate fixed price professional services contracts and hold vendors accountable for delivery of services.  
  • Project Management: Utilize agile project management methodologies in an FDA regulated environment to manage project timelines, budgets, and resources effectively.  
  • Financial Management: Responsible for the financial aspects of the SAP COE programs, including budgeting, cost management, and financial reporting.  
  • Communication – Effectively participate in cross functional business and IT program status meetings, effectively raise issues and take appropriate actions.   

MUST HAVE (Minimum Qualifications)

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 10+ years of experience with a bachelor’s degree or 8+ years of experience with an advanced degree
  • 7+ years of managerial experience

NICE TO HAVE (Preferred Qualifications)

  • Strongly Preferred:
    • 10+ years hands-on experience leading, planning, implementing and managing global SAP ECC or S/4applications  
    • Implementation experience transition from SAP ECC application landscape to SAP S/4.  
    • Planning, solution architecture, business/functional knowledge, and implementation experience with SAP ECC and S/4HANA and ideally satellite applications such as MDM, GTS, and EWM.  
    • Proven leadership in SAP S/4HANA transformation programs within supply chain, manufacturing, or commercial environments. 
    • Experience implementing core SAP modules: TM, EWM, SD, MM, PP, GTS, ATTP, Hybris. Techno/functional experience of global end to end processes.  
    • Demonstrated success managing complex programs across matrixed enterprise environments 
    • Professional Services Consulting experience is a significant plus.  
    • Soft Skills  
    • Proven track record of leading technology development teams and driving cross-divisional initiatives in a matrix organization. 
    • Highly organized, outcome-oriented, with excellent planning and project management skills. 
    • Exceptional leadership, presence, and executive communication skills (written and verbal). 
    • Strong influencing and diplomacy skills, with the ability to lead and drive change collaboratively and positively. 
    • Self-starter with a results-driven mindset and the ability to lead through ambiguity and act with urgency. 
    • Innovative thinker with a strategic focus and the aptitude to challenge the status quo. 
    • Previous Medtronic experience
  • Advanced degree (MBA, MS in Information Systems, Engineering, or related field) 
  • Certifications: SAP Activate, PMP, Agile/Scrum 
  • Experience implementing SAP BTP, Integration Suite (CPI/API), and modern extensibility models (In-App, Side-by-Side) 
  • Understanding of data architecture and stewardship including master data harmonization, data quality controls, and golden record management 
  • Experience applying AI to SAP data and implementations.

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$176,800.00 - $265,200.00

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).

This position is eligible for an annual long-term incentive plan.

The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).

The following benefits and additional compensation are available to those regular employees who work 20+ hours per week: Health, Dental and vision insurance, Health Savings Account, Healthcare Flexible Spending Account, Life insurance, Long-term disability leave, Dependent daycare spending account, Tuition assistance/reimbursement, and Simple Steps (global well-being program).

 

The following benefits and additional compensation are available to all regular employees: Incentive plans, 401(k) plan plus employer contribution and match, Short-term disability, Paid time off, Paid holidays, Employee Stock Purchase Plan, Employee Assistance Program, Non-qualified Retirement Plan Supplement (subject to IRS earning minimums), and Capital Accumulation Plan (available to Vice Presidents and above, or subject to IRS earning minimums).

 

Regular employees are those who are not temporary, such as interns.  Temporary employees are eligible for paid sick time, as required under applicable state law, and the Employee Stock Purchase Plan. Please note some of the above benefits may not apply to workers in Puerto Rico.
