Position Overview

Member of a high performing team focusing on delivering stable uptime and efficiency thru excellence in IT at the plant.  This associate is responsible for delivering various digital manufacturing execution solutions that support business goals through modern design, development, testing, implementation and support of advanced shop floor software.  They serve as a subject matter expert associated with code and interfaces, processes, and procedures associated with respective SAP ME and MII and other digital assets on the shop floor.  This role will include daily interaction with the plant leaders regarding adoption and enhancement of digital controls.  Successful MES associates will be able to assess and resolve business problems associated with the use of MES tools as well as create and implement new digital capabilities.  This associate will guide their local plant through enterprise rollouts of new technology and play a  a key role in the full lifecycle of development projects from requirement gathering, functional and technical specification thru build, testing and delivery for Hunter Douglas manufacturing operations. The developer will be responsible for overseeing overall code modification efforts and managing data systems which interface between plant control systems and system applications.  Additionally, a key function of this role includes continuous drive to establish the current best practice techniques keeping abreast of other enterprise capabilities and trends in new marketplace technologies ensuring that our digital footprint achieves both standard architecture expectations and user friendly processes. 

What you'll do

An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all of the following essential functions. (These examples do not include all the functions which the employee may be expected to perform.)

  • Develop and maintain shop floor software applications in the SAP ME and MII landscape for enabling improved business performance including machine integration, AI, and advanced algorithm technologies (AWS).
  • This role supports both existing legacy applications and new developments in SAP ME/MII.
  • Understands local and enterprise end to end fabrication processes and standards of work.
  • Writes functional requirements and specifications, develops test plans, and works with and resolves production issues.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders and IT teams to review and understand business requirements, assess available solutions, recommend options and implement solutions.
  • Collaborates daily with plant leaders regarding the stability and adherence of the system to standards, escalates concerns and recurring problems to plant services manager.
  • Translate business requirements into technical designs, specifications and solutions.
  • Interacts directly with business and stakeholders to build strong relationships and develop deep knowledge of business processes, needs and pain points.
  • Understands manufacturing processes and how systems and solutions support and enhance these processes.
  • Interact closely with internal and external teams and stakeholders to ensure technical quality and performance targets are met in the development and delivery of services and solutions.
  • Use SAP ME/MII, or other digital platform functional knowledge, combined with strong knowledge of best practices and business processes to drive to the best solution across people, processes and technology.
  • Provide technical support for existing and future implementations of AWS, SQL, Javascript, SAP ME/MII, Kepware, PCO and related modules and technology to business users and peers.
  • Travel to all locations when on site application support is needed up to 10%.
  • May be required to perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
  • Position requires regular and predictable attendance.

Who you are

An employee in this position, upon appointment, should have the equivalent of the following:

  • Expert knowledge to develop digital applications for manufacturing
  • Expert knowledge of ITIL and change control industry standards
  • Solid knowledge to  manage stakeholder expectations and customer service skills for partnering with shop floor users at all levels of the business (Required)
  • Expert knowledge to manage incident tracking software and/or process experience.
  • Expert knowledge and strong troubleshooting skills for program issues within many SAP ME/MII and other digital application platforms.
  • Expert knowledge and excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Expert knowledge demonstrate strong planning, organizing and decision making skills.
  • Solid knowledge in demonstrated leadership skills in application support and internal/external resource supervision.
  • Solid knowledge and proven ability to design application modifications in the form of functional and technical specifications.
  • Solid knowledge in technical documentation and application knowledge transition.
  • Solid knowledge of manufacturing application environment.
  • Solid knowledge of the impact of digital solutions on manufacturing environments
