Responsibilities:

Lead the design, development, and implementation of database architectures, ensuring optimal performance, scalability, and security.

Collaborate with IT and business teams to set up advanced data infrastructure and accelerate the deployment of AI-driven models for material/process/product design.

Develop and maintain data models, database schemas, and data integration workflows to support business needs.
-
Ensure data integrity, quality, and security across all database systems.
-
Optimize and manage database performance, including tuning queries and indexing strategies.
-
Lead the migration of on-premises databases to cloud-based solutions, ensuring minimal disruption and data loss.
-
Implement and manage data backup, recovery, and disaster recovery plans.
-
Stay updated with the latest database technologies and best practices, and apply them to improve existing systems.

Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior database administrators and developers.
Qualifications:
-
Bachelor’s degree or a master’s degree (preferred) in computer science, data engineering, or a related field.
-
Minimum of 8 years of related work experience after a bachelor’s degree or 6 years after a master’s degree.
-
Expertise in database design, development, and administration, with a focus on MS SQL, PostgreSQL, and Oracle.
-
Experience with cloud database solutions, specifically Azure SQL Database, as the primary platform, with knowledge of Amazon RDS and Google Cloud SQL as a plus.

Proficiency in data modeling, ETL processes, and data integration tools, with practical experience in Databricks or Fabriq, and Power BI.

Strong understanding of database security, backup, and recovery best practices.

Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automation for database deployments, with proficiency in Python and R for data preparation.

Proficiency with infrastructure as code and cloud infrastructure management, with a focus on Microsoft Azure.

Proven understanding of modern data architectures and concepts such as real-time data distribution and processing (Kafka, Flink), and modern data warehouse tools (Snowflake, Databricks).

Industry experience in automotive and/or chemical data, with at least basic domain knowledge.
