Opportunity Overview
Rhythm Pharmaceuticals is seeking a hands-on, detail-oriented, and experienced Payroll Specialist based in Europe to join our Global Finance team. In this role, you will support the processing and coordination of payrolls across multiple countries, primarily in EMEA and Japan, playing a critical role in ensuring timely, accurate, and compliant payroll operations in partnership with local vendors and internal stakeholders.
The ideal candidate will have experience using ADP Celergo or other global payroll platforms. This position reports to the Global Payroll Director, based in the United States.
Responsibilities and Duties
- End-to-End Payroll Processing: Coordinate and manage monthly payrolls in assigned countries in collaboration with in-country payroll providers.
- Data Validation: Prepare, validate, and reconcile payroll inputs, including new hires, terminations, bonuses, and benefit changes.
- Compliance: Ensure payrolls comply with local labor laws, tax regulations, and internal company policies. Provide recommendations on tax rates for equity withholding internationally.
- Reporting & Reconciliation: Assist with payroll equity reporting and monthly reconciliation of payroll accounts; provide reporting to internal stakeholders.
- Process Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements to enhance payroll efficiency and accuracy.
- Documentation & Audits: Maintain up-to-date documentation of payroll processes; support internal and external audits.
- Cross-Functional Support: Collaborate with HR and Finance to support compensation initiatives, statutory reporting, and employee queries.
- Employee Inquiries: Respond to employee inquiries and requests regarding payroll matters with care and a service mindset
Qualifications and Skills
- 3+ years of multi-country payroll experience in Europe, preferably including one or more of the following countries: Italy, Spain, the Netherlands, and Germany. Experience with French payroll preferred.
- Strong understanding of country-specific payroll legislation, tax systems, social security, and employment regulations in one or more countries
- Experience with payroll platforms (e.g., ADP, Vistra) and strong Excel skills
- High degree of accuracy and strong organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating across global teams and time zones.
- Degree in Accounting, HR, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
This role is based out of our Amsterdam, Netherlands office. Rhythm operates in a hybrid-work model. Candidates applying must be willing and able to be in the Amsterdam office in coordination with their department and business needs. This role may involve some travel.
