Job Description

The Field Services Intern will gain entry-level experience by learning, applying and providing service and technical support to customers.  Support the Pumps Division by assisting with customer warranty claims and rebuilding and troubleshooting pumps in the field. Partner with team members on the manufacturing floor to gain an understanding of how the product line is built and engineered.

The Internship will last approximately 12 weeks starting in May, 2025.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities

1. Support responses to customer and vendor inquiries, and learn to communicate effectively to determine urgency, the type of need, and explain complex issues and resolutions.
2. Learn and support the Field Technician responsibilities and functions, including but not limited to:

1. Assisting with equipment testing, inspections, troubleshooting and repairs.
2. Learning to interpret operating manuals and technical drawings
3. Supporting the preparation of written procedures and reports.
4. Assisting with investigating customer complaints and documenting findings.

Qualifications

Education/Experience

• High School Diploma and currently enrolled and pursuing a degree in Engineering, Manufacturing Operations, Business, or related field, plus one (1) year of completed course studies in area of emphasis.
• One (1) year of hands-on Mechanical or Electrical experience with manufacturing equipment, ideally in the aluminum or primary metals industry a plus.
• Experience with Computer-Aided Design and Drafting (CADD), a plus.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

• Technical Skills.  Ability to assess, troubleshoot and repair machinery by referring to and applying principles, techniques, and standard operating procedures.  Basic knowledge of raw materials, production processes, and basic machinery. Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principals involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
• Core People Skills. Ability to positively interact and work collaboratively with a diverse group of people at all levels of the organization.  Genuine with high ethical standards and values and personal integrity and honesty.  Ability to apply a large measure of common sense to a variety of situations. Progressive thinker, flexible and team oriented.  
• Communication Skills. Ability to speak clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations, listen and obtain clarification, and respond well to questions. Proficiency in writing clearly and concisely and editing work for spelling and grammar. Ability to vary writing style to meet business needs.
• Computer/Applications Skills. Proficient computer skills using a variety of software applications systems, including Microsoft Office Products such as Word, Excel, Visio, etc.
• Core Business Skills. Ability to exercise sound judgement and discretion in handling of proprietary and confidential information. Strong critical thinking skills, judgment and keen attention to detail and accuracy. Exceptional prioritization, time management and organizational skills. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Travel and Work Requirements.  Ability to travel domestically, by land and air up to 40%.  Valid driver’s license, or ability to obtain required.
