Instructional Design Specialist
Triumvirate Environmental, one of the largest environmental services firms in North America, is seeking an Instructional Design Specialist. You will be a key contributor to our Learning & Development (L&D) team.

We are looking for a motivated Instructional Design Specialist to join our L&D team. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of instructional design principles, an eye for detail, a passion for creating engaging learning experiences, and the ability to collaborate effectively with subject matter experts (SMEs). As an Instructional Design Specialist, you will contribute to the development of instructional materials that support learning objectives and enhance Triumvirate’ learning and development initiatives. This position reports to our Learning & Development Director.
This is a full-time position based at our corporate office in Somerville, MA. After the first 90 days, a hybrid work schedule offering 1-2 days of remote work per week may be available.
Responsibilities:
- Design learning programs: Collaborate with L&D team and SMEs to identify learning objectives and design strategies to create effective learning materials and delivery methods, including eLearning modules, instructor-led training, and job aids.
- Develop and edit content: Support the development and editing of multimedia content such as videos, quizzes, and interactive elements.
- Conduct needs analysis: Gather and analyze training requirements, learner needs, and learning objectives to ensure instructional content aligns with departmental and organizational goals.
- Evaluate and improve learning solutions: Help assess the effectiveness of learning materials through feedback and performance data, making recommendations for improvement.
- Support Learning Management System (LMS): Participate in the Quality Control process, upload, test, and maintain course materials within the LMS, ensuring quality training delivery, seamless access and tracking for learners.
- Collaborate with stakeholders: Work closely with SMEs, project managers, and other stakeholders to gather content, define learning objectives, and ensure that instructional materials meet the needs of the target audience while aligning with organizational goals.
- Maintain content library: Organize, update, and ensure the accuracy of instructional materials and resources in the content library, ensuring that all assets are easily accessible, consistent, and aligned with current training standards.
Basic Requirements:
- Instructional design knowledge: Strong understanding of instructional design models (e.g. ADDIE, SAM) for application in developing course content, assessments, and interactive training materials.
- Content development skills: Proficient in creating learning materials (e.g. e-Learning modules, instructor-led training, job aids, video tutorials, etc.) using authoring tools such as Articulate 360 (Storyline, Rise), Adobe Captivate, or similar software.
- Create engaging multimedia content: Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Animate), Camtasia, Vyond, Powtoon, and other tools to design and develop visually appealing, interactive, and dynamic learning materials, including graphics, animations and videos.
- LMS Familiarity: Experience working with LMS platforms to upload, organize, and manage course content.
- Collaboration and communication: Strong communication skills to work closely with SMEs and stakeholders to provide consultation, gather content, and ensure alignment with learning goals.
- Attention to detail and problem-solving: Ability to troubleshoot issues, test learning content for accuracy and effectiveness, and make adjustments to ensure an optimal learning experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Education, Graphic Design, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in eLearning development and instructional design.
- Proficient in Articulate 360 (Storyline, Rise), Adobe Captivate, or similar software.
- Experience working with a Learning Management System.
- Strong understanding of adult learning principles and instructional design best practices.
- Excellent project management and organizational skills to balance the demands of multiple projects and deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with SMEs, stakeholders and team.
- Attention to detail to ensure accuracy in content development, testing, and alignment with training objectives.
- Must be eligible to work in the United States without future sponsorship
- Must have a reliable form of transportation
Preferred Requirements:
- Master’s degree in Instructional Design, Adult Learning or Learning Technology.
- Relevant certification in eLearning development or instructional design.
- Experience in developing a variety of eLearning modalities.
- Experience with Cornerstone Saba Learning Management System.
