Job Description:
Areas of responsibility include:
- Provide timely tax advice on indirect tax topics in all 50 states to Business colleagues
- Manage and review timely and accurate state, and local jurisdictions’ indirect taxes including sales and use, personal property, business licenses, and annual reports filings
- Develop SOPs and new processes to align with management requirements, as needed
- Gather data and support various aspects of state and local sales tax filings as needed
- Manage external suppliers supporting indirect taxes
- Responsible for continuous improvement in the efficiency of data gathering and analysis
- Manage Vertex O Series local requirements including exemption certificates to ensure correct and accurate taxation. Work closely with business partners, global Vertex team and global indirect tax team to ensure that US tax system requirements are met.
- Work with the Business to ensure customer invoices reflect correct sales tax and GST
- Manage vendor and customer new set ups and related tax forms
- Review tax account reconciliations
- Provide training to the Business on indirect tax matters
- Automation of all indirect tax compliance
- Manage and support Indirect tax audits
- Other tax related tasks as needed
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- SAP knowledge a must
- Vertex knowledge a must
- Research skills a must
- Minimum requirement: Bachelor’s degree in tax/accounting/finance or related field
- State, sales and/or property tax experience 10 year minimum
- Strong Microsoft Office products skills, with emphasis on Excel
- Ability to interface and communicate effectively with all types of people and disciplines, including colleagues internationally
- Ability to prioritize multiple assignments and remain responsive to internal/external inquiries
- Flexible working independently as well as in a team environment
- Analytical/accounting and reconciliation skills
