Job Description

Reporting to the Head of HR, you will partner up with managers at different levels in all matters related to people development including, but not limited to, the resolution of employee relations issues, mainly across our operation in Malta. 

Main Responsibilities:

  • Designing and implementing effective short- and long-term ER and HR policies and strategies to ensure alignment with business strategies and goals.
  • Support in developing training and communications to enhance overall capability in employee relations management including formal and informal responses to performance issues, grievances and disciplinaries.
  • Ensuring all ER practices are up to date with current legislation.
  • Management and monitoring of legal proceedings with external law firms.
  • Coordinate the issuance of relevant documentation associated with disciplinaries, salary increases and promotions any other employment-related documentation.
  • Supporting and advising People Managers on a broad spectrum of ER activities including grievances, disciplinaries, restructures, redundancies, TUPE transfer.
  • Support the business in creating and implementing employee driven programs and initiatives in line with the business strategy.
  • Proactively provide new, creative solutions to business challenges - while also building on existing processes and methods.
  • Work closely with Talent Acquisition to support organisational design.
  • Drives healthy and positive organisational culture in partnership with people managers by developing and executing strong people development strategies.
  • Implement programs related to talent management, career planning, performance management, recognition, and organisational development.
  • Supports annual HR cycle deliverables to include roundtables, performance management, individual development planning, annual merit and bonus processes and benefits.
  • Analyses trends and metrics in partnership with HR peers to develop solutions, programs, and policies.
  • Actively identify gaps, propose, and implement changes necessary to cover risks.
  • Identify, develop talents and work on succession planning in cooperation with main stakeholders.
  • Supporting overall HR projects as required.

Qualifications

  • Robust HR and Employee Relations experience, preferably with diverse client groups and agility to work with matrixed functional areas and stakeholders.
  • Strong Maltese employment law knowledge is a must, ideally in possession of a lawyer’s warrant.
  • Strong level of both written and spoken English is essential.
  • Analytical thinking demonstrated by the ability to solve problems using a logical, systematic, and sequential approach to professionally handle employee concerns.
  • The ability to operate successfully in a high volume and fast-paced environment unaided, embrace change, and balance competing and opposing priorities.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and use of continuous improvement tools and processes.
  • Experience with talent management, retention, rewards - as well as a general familiarity and curiosity for a wide range of HR policies, practices, and trends.
