The opportunity
We are seeking a detail-oriented, experienced Hedge Accountant to support establishing and managing Hitachi Energy’s hedge accounting practices. You will ensure compliance with accounting standards and drive improvements to our hedge accounting processes. You will play a critical role in managing and reporting derivative transactions, ensuring accurate hedge effectiveness testing and maintaining alignment with IFRS 9 requirements. To help establish and implement a fit-for-purpose approach to hedge accounting, you will be collaborating with corporate controlling, the business, treasury and IT.
How you’ll make an impact

Ensure accurate documentation of hedge relationships and assess hedge effectiveness

Record and monitor hedging transactions in S4 HANA and ensure proper reporting in our consolidation tool

Collaborate with the treasury team to evaluate financial risks related to foreign exchange for large, complex projects

Prepare and present hedge accounting reports, disclosures, and reconciliations for financial statements

Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, including IFRS 9 and Hitachi Energy reporting requirements

Liaise with external auditors during audits and respond to inquiries

Provide insights and recommendations to management and project controllers on improving hedging effectiveness

Enhance hedge accounting processes and systems, with the support of IT, to improve efficiency and accuracy

Work with project controllers on large, long duration and complex projects to effectively hedge risk exposure
Your Background
-
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Economics and/or Business Administration
-
Minimum 5 years of experience in hedge accounting, financial risk management, and/or treasury functions

Strong knowledge of financial derivatives and hedging strategies
-
In-depth understanding of IFRS 9 or similar hedge accounting standards. In-depth knowledge of other IFRS standards is strongly preferred

Proficiency in financial software (e.g., SAP or specialized hedge accounting tools)

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
-
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with stakeholders

Fluency in written and spoken English (other languages are an advantage)
