THE ROLE

We want our customers to invest their energy in the area that brings them to Farfetch - discovering and being inspired by the fashion we offer. This means everything else needs to be as frictionless as possible, including the purchase and post-purchase experience.

The challenge for our fraud team is to find the balance between enabling that frictionless experience, protecting us from financial and reputational risk, and ensuring card scheme compliance. Our success is therefore dependent on ensuring we have a robust decision making technology, customer experiences and internal processes that allow effective risk management without damaging the experience for our customers.

You will lead a team responsible for our global fraud strategy and performance across the platform, and will strive to find this optimum balance.

You will report to the Snr Director of Fintech Operations, while your peers in the leadership team of the department are the Head of Payments and the Fintech Analytics Manager.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Shape and drive the fraud prevention strategy across the Farfetch marketplace, delivering continuous improvements in our fraud processes and KPIs (such as chargeback rates, false positives, chargeback defence rates) to achieve the optimum balance between protecting our business from loss, and in enabling growth.
  • Collaborate with leadership in Operations, Technology, Product, Security and beyond to make the strategy a reality; implementing technology and process improvements to reach our goals.
  • Lead your team to reach their potential, both in their personal development and in their performance as a group. You’ll create a culture and structure to ensure long term sustainable success in the area.
  • You’ll work closely with our colleagues in technology to create world-class fraud models, systems and tools.
  • Develop up-to-date industry knowledge and expertise in the team. You'll focus on consumer trends, new products, card scheme compliance and regulation, while building close ties with those in the industry. You'll use your experience to grow the next generation of experts in Farfetch.
  • Manage and develop the partnerships with our external fraud partners around the globe, ensuring your team leverages the strengths of our existing and future partners to deliver maximum value to our company.

WHO YOU ARE

  • An experienced leader, with strong competencies in the fraud and risk domain. You have worked in an international e-commerce company or service provider leading a fraud or risk team.
  • You have experience working with and designing fraud processes with a high level of automation through ML/AI solutions..
  • You're strategically minded and plan ahead, but you balance this with the ability to execute and solve problems as they happen.
  • You're able to demonstrate experience building relationships and ties across the payment and fraud ecosystem, benefiting from the experiences and knowledge of others.
  • You’re a strong communicator, and able to break down complex subjects for non-experts.
  • You're comfortable in navigating through occasional situations of ambiguity or uncertainty.
