Your Role

As a Hardware Product Manager, you work with the sales, engineering, operations, marketing, and business development teams to guide the development and lifecycle of hardware products and accessories to ensure they meet customer requirements and achieve business goals. A successful product manager will develop a strong understanding of our user needs and the market demands, technology trends, and the competitive landscape for our industry. This role is critical for ensuring Aperia maintains high customer satisfaction and strong operational efficiencies.

Your Responsibilities

Product Definition and Planning

  • Regularly gather, analyze, and prioritize detailed product requirements to maintain epics/items in Aperia’s product backlog.
  • Attend trade shows and monitor trade publications to analyze market trends, competitive threats, and customer feedback to inform product & design decisions.
  • Work closely with the Engineering team to translate customer requirements into product features to ensure product success.
  • Contribute to developing Aperia’s product roadmap based on customer needs, market trends, and business priorities to ensure the products/projects we’re prioritizing will solve the problems our customers need solved.

Development and Implementation

  • Define how our products are delivered to customers through SKU bills of materials and packaging.
  • Drive releasing new SKUs/update the product catalog as new products/accessories are launched or updated.
  • Oversee the development and release of product packaging with external vendors.
  • Anticipate and mitigate potential issues during the product development process by ensuring that the design produced by the engineering team meets the requirements.
  • Drive tradeoff analysis with cross-functional stakeholders when there is a requirements conflict or a potential performance gap.

Product Launch and Support

  • Continuously collaborate with sales, marketing, operations, and engineering to ensure products/features are launched successfully. 
  • Train sales and customer support teams on the product’s features and benefits so they can sell and support our products effectively.
  • Define user installation processes and develop user manuals and other product documentation with designers, marketers, and engineers.

Post-Launch and Continuous Improvement

  • Document user and vehicle observations to expand Aperia’s knowledgebase to scale product knowledge across the organization.
  • Investigate product and usability issues remotely and in-person in the field in collaboration with the field engineers and customer support team.
  • Analyze RMA data to understand failure trends in the field and drive product improvements.
  • Clearly communicate product changes to customers to maximize the impacts of our products.

Skills/Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or related field. An advanced degree or MBA is a plus.
  • Proven experience in hardware product management with a good track record of managing products in various lifecycle stages.
  • Strong technical background, preferably in the specific domain of the hardware product.
  • Demonstrated ability to balance customer needs with technical feasibility and business priorities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
  • Experience with agile product development methodologies.
  • Proficiency with product management tools and software such as Jira and Figma.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Experience with data analysis tools, including as R, Tableau, Pandas, Excel, SQL, or other alternatives.

This role requires travel up to 30% of the time.

Pay Range: $90,000- $110,000

*Base salary only. Salary dependent on multiple factors including, but not limited to, experience and location.

**Additional compensation may include equity, bonuses, stipends, medical, dental, vision, 401-k, and long-term disability insurance.
