Job Description
Position Overview
We are looking for a highly skilled and innovative Industrial Automation Hardware Engineer to join our Systems Solutions team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing hardware systems for industrial automation applications. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of control systems, hardware integration, and industry standards, with the ability to deliver solutions that enhance system efficiency and reliability.
Key Responsibilities
- Hardware Design & Development:
- Design and develop hardware systems, including control panels, printed circuit boards (PCBs), and electrical components for industrial automation systems.
- Prepare detailed schematics, wiring diagrams, and layout drawings using tools like AutoCAD Electrical or EPLAN.
- System Integration:
- Integrate various hardware components such as PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, sensors, and actuators into automation systems.
- Ensure seamless communication between devices using protocols like Modbus, Ethernet/IP, or Profinet.
- Testing & Validation:
- Conduct rigorous testing of hardware components and systems to ensure performance, reliability, and compliance with design specifications.
- Troubleshoot and resolve hardware-related issues during development and deployment.
- Component Selection:
- Select appropriate hardware components and materials based on performance, cost, and compatibility requirements.
- Collaborate with suppliers to source high-quality components.
- Documentation:
- Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation, including design specifications, BOMs, test reports, and user manuals.
- Compliance & Standards:
- Ensure all hardware designs comply with relevant industry standards, safety regulations, and certifications (e.g., UL, CE, IEC).
- Collaboration:
- Work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including software developers, mechanical engineers, and project managers, to deliver end-to-end solutions.
Qualifications
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
- Experience:
- 3-5 years of experience in hardware design for industrial automation systems.
- Hands-on experience with control system hardware and integration.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in CAD tools like AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, or similar.
- Knowledge of PLCs, SCADA systems, industrial communication protocols, and embedded systems.
- Familiarity with electrical standards such as NEC, NFPA, and IEC.
- Experience in PCB design and layout tools is a plus.
- Soft Skills:
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork capabilities.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
