Growth Marketing Manager, MapMy Suite

Outside Inc. is looking for a highly motivated and experienced Growth Marketing Manager to join the Growth Marketing Team to focus on the growth of our fitness products (MapMy Suite) across free users and paid subscribers.


This individual contributor role offers an exciting opportunity to build the growth engine for the MapMy apps from the ground up, following a recent acquisition. You will work closely with internal teams and external partners to optimize acquisition, retention, and subscription growth. Your focus will include lifecycle marketing, app store optimization (ASO), A/B testing, and audience-specific personalization to drive key metrics and business goals.


You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Product, Engineering, CRM, and Business Intelligence, to integrate the apps into our tech stack and bring innovative growth strategies to life. Additionally, you’ll partner with the Outside platform and editorial managers to activate and convert users across the broader Outside network, with a focus on growing and retaining MapMy users who purchase an Outside+ subscription.


This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a hands-on, tactical environment—whether that means building dashboards, updating email templates, or making quick fixes to landing pages. You’ll leverage data and insights to make informed decisions and embrace ambiguity as an opportunity to test, iterate, and innovate.

Within 1 month, you will: 

  • Audit our lifecycle marketing campaigns, app store presence, and product positioning to identify areas for improvement.
  • Familiarize yourself with our MMP  implementation and other marketing tools like Amplitude.
  • Build partnerships with cross-functional stakeholders across Product, Engineering, CRM, Business Intelligence, and Creative.
  • Review historical ASO updates and testing, and identify opportunities to improve discoverability and conversion in app stores.
  • Gain a deep understanding of our product roadmaps and the Outside+ ecosystem to identify user pain points and growth opportunities.

Within 6 months, you will: 

  • Optimize lifecycle marketing efforts to scale acquisition thoughtfully—from app install to engaged user to paid subscriber.
  • Own the strategy and execution of personalized marketing campaigns across email, in-app, and push notifications.
  • Implement and manage marketing attribution reports, collaborating with BI and data teams to build dashboards that inform subscription growth strategies.
  • Partner with Outside platform and editorial managers to design campaigns that activate and convert users across the broader network.
  • Develop surveys and insights to better understand the needs and motivations of MapMy app users and Outside+ subscribers.

Within 12 months, you will: 

  • Become an expert in the MapMy app user personas and the behaviors of Outside+ subscribers, identifying clear paths for activation and retention.
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive roadmap for marketing strategies to drive subscription growth and improve user engagement.
  • Clearly articulate the customer journey across the MapMy apps and Outside+ ecosystem, using data-driven insights to refine tactics.
  • Establish a systematic A/B testing framework to evaluate messaging, pricing, and product features.
  • Fully integrate the MapMy apps into the broader Outside platform, enhancing cross-app user experiences and driving retention.


What YOU bring to Outside:  (Preferred Qualifications)

  • 5+ years of experience in direct-to-consumer subscription marketing, with a strong emphasis on mobile app growth and app store optimization.
  • Proven success in designing and executing lifecycle marketing campaigns across email, in-app, and push channels.
  • Strong hands-on experience with tools like AppsFlyer, Amplitude, or similar mobile app ad and analytics platforms.
  • A bias for action and a proven ability to roll up your sleeves—whether it’s creating dashboards, adjusting email templates, or directly updating landing pages.
  • Confidence in making data-inspired decisions, even when faced with incomplete information, to drive progress and innovation.
  • A strong ability to thrive in uncertainty and ambiguity, embracing the opportunity to test, iterate, and refine.
  • Exceptional analytical and project management skills, with the ability to synthesize insights and collaborate across Product, Engineering, Creative, and Marketing teams.
  • A passion for the outdoors and fitness technologies is highly desirable.

What We Offer:

Entirely remote jobs that could be performed in Colorado: Employees can expect to be paid a salary of  between $75,000 to $93,000.  Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission . Additional benefits include health care, vision, dental, retirement, Flexible Time Away,  sick leave, and more.  This salary range is merely an estimate and may vary based on an applicant’s location, market data/ranges, an applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications, and other relevant factors
