Neptune Pacific Direct Line (NPDL) operates market leading brands in shipping and logistics services across 18 Pacific Island markets. The Group Accountant - Financial Reporting will need to be a very strong all-rounder with substantial hands-on transactional experience and a flexible can-do attitude. The incumbent will be required initially to pick up numerous ad-hoc work, to deputize and assist the members in accounting team within the group as required. The incumbent will be an important member of the NPDL Accounting team, working closely with the Group Financial Controller and the Group Financial Reporting Manager, to ensure each month end close and submissions to the corporate head offices and external stakeholders are completed accurately, efficiently and within the required deadlines.
Job Description
- Work with the Finance staff within the group to ensure month/year end ("YE") reporting and any supplementary information is completed accurately in line with reporting timetables;
- Manage the intercompany positions within Fiji and with offshore entities, ensuring all intercompany positions are fully reconciled across both Income Statement and Balance Sheet;
- Assist the Group Accounting Manager in review of monthly reporting packs;
- Assist the Group Financial Reporting Manager in managing the audits of all NPDL entities;
- Work with the NPDL Group Finance team and NPDL Tax Manager to ensure NPDL entities complete their local statutory obligations in a timely and efficient manner;
- Assist in preparation and review of financial statements for the group;
- Review monthly/quarterly reporting packs and general ledger reconciliations for the group; and
- Other tasks as directed by Group Financial Controller and the Group Financial Reporting Manager.
Qualifications
- A tertiary qualification; Bachelor's Degree in Accounting.
- Strong computer skills, intermediate level Microsoft excel skills
- 2-3 Years experience of financial reporting in a multi-currency environment with
- Experience of compiling a detailed YE reporting pack to auditors, including fully complete balance sheet reconciliations
- Technical knowledge of accounting principles, laws and regulations
- Very good attention to detail
- Ability to be flexible and multi-task
- A positive “can do” attitude
- Professional written and verbal communication and strong organizational and interpersonal skills
- Proven experience of successfully working with accounting teams of varied abilities across the Pacific; and
- Proven problem-solving skills - defining problems, collecting relevant data, drawing valid conclusions, and recommending corrective action
- Understanding of Principal/Agency Model
- Experience of Reporting into an overseas parent, US Preferred
- Collaboration with Diverse Project Teams
- Shipping/Freight forwarding experience
