Job Description Summary

Saint Leo University Athletics is seeking a detail-oriented and driven Graduate Assistant to join the NCAA Compliance Office. This position offers a valuable opportunity for professional growth in the field of collegiate athletics compliance, while supporting the university’s efforts to ensure adherence to NCAA, Sunshine State Conference (SSC), and institutional regulations. The Graduate Assistant will work closely with compliance staff to help monitor and enforce NCAA rules, provide support for student-athletes, and assist in daily office operations.

Job Description

Duties and Tasks:

Compliance Monitoring & Reporting

  • Assist with tracking and reporting student-athletes' eligibility status, ensuring compliance with NCAA and SSC rules and regulations.
  • Help manage and track student-athletes' participation in practice and competition to ensure adherence to NCAA limits.
  • Review and assist in the processing of NCAA and SSC compliance forms, including recruiting logs, financial aid reports, and eligibility waivers.

 

Recruiting Compliance

  • Monitor and assist with recruiting activities, ensuring compliance with NCAA recruiting rules.
  • Track official and unofficial visits, communication logs, and other recruiting-related documentation.
  • Assist with the preparation of recruiting education and training materials for coaching staff.

 

Rules Education & Training

  • Assist in the creation and delivery of rules education sessions for coaches, staff, and student-athletes.
  • Support compliance initiatives aimed at fostering a culture of NCAA rules education and awareness across athletics programs.
  • Help with the development of compliance-related resources, including guidelines and manuals for staff and student-athletes.

 Eligibility & Financial Aid Support

  • Assist in monitoring and documenting the eligibility status of student-athletes in conjunction with the Registrar’s Office and Financial Aid.
  • Help prepare and track NCAA eligibility certifications, including initial eligibility, progress toward degree, and transfer status.
  • Assist with the review and processing of financial aid, scholarships, and related documentation to ensure NCAA compliance.

 

General Administrative Support

  • Provide administrative support to the Compliance Office, including maintaining records, preparing reports, and assisting with office logistics.
  • Help with the preparation for audits and reviews by NCAA and SSC governing bodies.
  • Assist with special projects related to NCAA compliance, including data management and analysis.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

Required Qualifications:

  • Enrollment in a graduate program at Saint Leo University.
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion.
  • Strong work ethic, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of NCAA and SSC rules and regulations, or a strong interest in learning about compliance.
  • Prior experience in collegiate athletics, particularly in compliance or academic advising.
  • Experience with compliance software and data management tools (e.g., ARMS, Compliance Assistant).
  • Strong interest in pursuing a career in NCAA compliance or sports administration.

Graduate Assistant Requirements

  • Admission to the School of Graduate Studies and a Master’s Program at Saint Leo University.
  • Maintain a 3.0 GPA in their selected area of study during graduate school
