This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to GM Global Technical Center- Cadillac Tower three times per week, at minimum.

Going forward, GM Envolve is transforming beyond vehicle sales, bringing holistic Business to Business (B2B) & Business to Government (B2G) solutions to small, medium and large organizations; focusing on complete end-to-end B2B/B2G solutions to help our partners meet their business goals.
We are seeking a motivated self-starter for the role of Assistant Manager - Inspection Operations, Rental Activities to oversee the GM Remarketing used vehicle inspection operations ensuring vehicle inspections are conducted in accordance with GM Inspection Guidelines to drive maximum sale proceeds to General Motors.
The successful individual will work closely with the GM Remarketing team, inspection providers (IP), auction personnel, GM Financial field staff, rail representatives, and other external personnel to manage daily activities. They should be very comfortable working with data to identify pain points, areas of opportunity, and support Remarketing decisions.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
- Develop a thorough understanding of the GM Inspection Guidelines to provide guidance and interpretation to rental accounts, inspectors, and auctions to aid resolution of vehicle eligibility concerns
- Monitor reports for problem/aging vehicles
- Review weekly physical inventory conducted by IP and address outliers
- Conduct monthly IP performance metrics reviews at both a high-level and in detail to further develop the IP management team
- Manage operational functions at inspections yards to ensure adequate space for forecasted returns
- Facilitate the flow of potential product concerns first recognized at inspection sites to GM Fleet Service & brand/plant quality teams
- Conduct photo audits to identify image quality concerns and provide feedback to IP
- Develop communication & cooperation between IP, auctions, GM audit staff, yard managers and rental customers
- Create model year rental guidelines for repurchase vehicles. Issue clarification bulletins and revisions/additions, as required during the year
- Provide inspection invoice criteria and approve payments in eSAP
- Manage rental reject process. Review data received from auctions and GMF for reject consensus. Prepare rental account invoice and track receipt of payments. Provide information to Remarketing Finance team to pay auction expenses and close vehicles out in Remarketing systems.
- Conduct semi-annual Remarketing Information Management System (RIMS) audit to ensure internal and external users still require access. Report results to the audit team for SOX compliance.
Additional Description
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in business or a related field
- 5+ years of related experience with 3 years in automotive
- Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal)
- attention to detail, and the ability to multitask are essential to effectively managing the inspection business
- Ability to address and respond to conflicting viewpoints
- Strong team player and with effective problem solving and collaboration skills
- Strong Microsoft Office suite abilities in Access, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint
- Proven ability to use data to drive decision making
Preferred
- Knowledge of wholesaling, appraisal experience, auctions
- Remarketing industry experience
- Basic understanding of normal wear and tear, excessive wear, structural damage, paint and metal repairs, and vehicle components
- Experience with the vehicle inspection process
- Knowledge of internal applications: GM Remarketing's Mobile Inspection Application, RIMS, BARS, CVMS, eSAP, Global Warranty, GMIW, a Plus
