The Opportunity
We are seeking a Global Biodiversity and Climate Resilience Specialist to join our Global Sustainability Team. In this role, you will shape and implement our global sustainability strategy, focusing on biodiversity and achieving a net-positive impact on nature. Reporting to the Global Environmental Sustainability Manager, you will play a crucial role in shaping sustainability in the electricity transmission & distribution industry.
How You’ll Make an Impact

Contribute to the execution of the company’s global sustainability strategy, focusing on nature and climate resilience/adaptation, biodiversity conservation, and natural resource management

Conduct biodiversity impact and dependencies assessments aligned with global frameworks and best practices (e.g. TNFD, SBTN, ESRS E4) for own operations and value chain

Advise on key potential IROs on biodiversity associated with renewable energy projects and support impact assessment, supervising, and monitoring the mitigation including action plans, biodiversity offset design, and feasibility studies to achieve net positive impact

Develop approaches, metrics, and tools for assessing biodiversity losses and gains of complex, large-scale projects in areas of sensitive biodiversity

Support major projects (including renewable power generation, data centers), supervising and monitoring impact mitigation, including supporting development of action plans, biodiversity offset design, and feasibility studies to achieve net positive impact

Support reporting efforts by contributing to ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) disclosures, biodiversity metrics, and sustainability reports

Partner with external stakeholders, including government agencies, NGOs, and local communities, to support conservation efforts

Develop guidance materials and toolkits for staff, partners, and co-ordinate targeted training and workshops as appropriate
Your Background
-
Master’s degree and/or PhD in Climate Science, Ecology, Environmental Science, or a related discipline

7+ years’ experience in nature and climate assessments, biodiversity conservation, and environmental management/sustainability, preferably in a similar industry

Solid technical data analysis and interpretation skills coupled with excellent knowledge of international climate change and biodiversity policies, regulations and frameworks especially related to renewable energy, climate change adaptation and mitigation, including ecosystem-based approaches to climate change (e.g., Convention on Biological Diversity, TNFD, SBTN, IFRS S2, CSRD/ESRS, GRI, CDP)

Competence in tools such as GIS mapping, biodiversity assessment platforms, climate resilience assessment platforms

Experience managing and delivering multiple complex projects, as well as project sponsorship/oversight

Excellent presentation and writing skills, with experience in presenting complex concepts to a wide stakeholders' audience

Ability to travel globally (up to 30%)

Ability to work in a global, multidisciplinary team and manage complex stakeholder networks
