At Grid & Power Quality Solutions and Service business in Europe (HBUEU), diversity drives our culture of innovation and collaboration. We are looking for a HUB Health Safety and Environment Manager to lead HSE department at Europe. You will be accountable for all works associated with Health, Safety and Environmental domains.  As the HUB most senior HSE professional, you are a seasoned and recognized HSE practitioner, who drives the HUB HSE portfolio with vision, determination, and expertise.

How you'll make an impact:

  • Develop and execute the Hitachi Energy HSE strategy while promoting a culture of learning and improvement in HSE implementing programs to prevent injuries and illnesses within the workplace and environmental accidents.

  • Ensuring compliance with internal and external requirements related to environmental and employee health and safety and identifying areas for improvement.

  • Influence leadership decisions to align with HSE goals and maintaining relationships with the community, environmental groups, and other stakeholders impacted by the environmental performance of the organization

  • Inspecting workplace and environmental incidents in accordance with company procedures and implementing corrective actions. Act as a role model to support a HSE learning and improving culture and advocate for customers in HSE-related issues.

  • Coach and guide teams and promote behavioral changes for a strong HSE culture. Drive behavioral change through implementing Hitachi Energy improvement programs and practices.

  • Reporting on HSE and sustainability performance and progress on implementation of Hitachi Energy and GPQS HSE objectives and key performance indicators (KPIs), as required.

  • Lead HSE capability development, HSE workforce management, footprint, and succession planning within their area of responsibility. Identify, plan and initiate upskilling/training needs, e.g., for employees, contractors, and facilitates delivery. Participate in defining the annual budget for HSE in their area and is accountable for managing performance against agreed financial targets and constraints.

  • Implement Hitachi Energy HSE standards and programs. Support the audit of their area of responsibility whenever identified in the Hitachi Energy program for internal functional audit.

  • Assist senior management in understanding obligations, liability and how to fulfil their roles, according to applicable HSE laws and Hitachi Energy standards and programs. Ensure that HSE risk assessments in their area of responsibility are conducted by line management involving frontline employees.

Your Background:

  • Bachelor degree, master preferred

  • At least 10 years relevant experience in a complex, matrix organization

  • Experience in establishing and implementing strategies that have short to mid-term (1-3 years) impact on business results

  • Ability to solve complex problems that are often complex and require extensive investigation and analysis.

  • Leading, directly and indirectly multiple teams of managers.

  • Requires ability to influence others to accept practices and approaches, and ability to communicate and influence executive leadership.

  • Coaching multiple teams of lower-level executives, and senior managers.
