In 2022, we announced our ambition to significantly reduce carbon emissions across our distilling operations at Midleton Distillery in addition to our plans to invest in a new distillery on a site adjacent to our existing operations in Midleton.
We employ over 800 people across our operations in Cork and Dublin.

About the role
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Production Services General Operative to join our team at Midleton Distillery, reporting to the Environmental & Production Services Team Lead. This role is ideal for candidates passionate about maintaining operational excellence, including grounds upkeep, facilities management, and efficient handling of equipment and materials.
Key Focus Areas:
- Caretaking & Landscaping: Maintaining and enhancing the Midleton Distillery grounds, including biodiversity areas for pollinators and wildlife.
- Facilities & Equipment Maintenance: Supporting smooth operations by managing key infrastructure and ensuring the efficient handling of critical materials and chemicals.
- Operational Efficiency: Contributing to the seamless running of the site, with a hands-on approach to daily operations and housekeeping.
Shift Pattern: Work in rotating teams of two, with shifts alternating weekly:
- Team 1: 6:00 am to 2:30 pm Monday–Thursday; 6:00 am to 1:30 pm Friday.
- Team 2: 8:00 am to 4:30 pm Monday–Thursday; 8:00 am to 3:30 pm Friday.
- Additionally, one Saturday in four and 1.5 public holidays per year as per the department rota.
Main Responsibilities:
- Groundskeeping: Maintaining gardens and biodiversity areas to high standards.
- Recording the receipt and dispatch of cereals, by-products, and all waste streams.
- Supervising safe operation by third parties for cereal/process additives deliveries and by-product out-loading.
- Accurate and timely data entry on the weighbridge system.
- Collecting cereals and by-product samples for quality assurance.
- Waste handling, segregation, and management.
- Operating forklifts for loading/unloading of process additives.
- Connecting and distributing process additives on-site (e.g., boiler and cooling tower chemicals).
- Overseeing bulk unloading of process additives across key site areas.
- Operating wastewater treatment processes in compliance with regulations.
- Upholding hygiene and housekeeping standards in line with ISO22000 and FEMAS.
- Adhering to all site policies, procedures, and safety standards.
- Staying aware of task-related hazards and risk assessments
Skills and Attributes:
- Leaving Certificate qualification required.
- Valid Class B and W driver’s licenses.
- Forklift, tractor, and front-loader operation experience.
- Awareness and experience in safe chemical handling.
- Knowledge of environmental, health, and safety standards.
- Strong communication skills and a proactive, team-oriented attitude.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Water/wastewater management experience and a production environment background are advantageous.
