About the Role:

The Internal Audit Manager will be part of Remitly’s internal audit department, who provides independent and objective assurance and advisory services to improve Remitly’s governance, risk management, and control processes. This Internal Audit Manager will report to the VP of Internal Audit or the Director of Internal Audit and oversee the execution of internal audit related projects. You will be based in Cork, Ireland and will work a hybrid schedule. This role will require domestic and international travel (approx 10-15%).

You Will:

  • Be the engagement manager for complex, and higher risk internal audit projects.
  • Develop project plan (e.g., calendar, budgeting, milestone tracking, reporting, communication plans, etc.) and independently leads project scoping, fieldwork, and reporting.
  • Draft audit report, audit observations and other deliverables that align with reporting guidance.
  • Align with business to assess remediation plans and due dates, and perform post-remediation validation testing
  • Effectively manage relationships and oversee audit engagements with co-sourcing partners, providing direction, and ensuring accomplishment of audits and projects
  • Manage timely and quality delivery of multiple tasks, including audits, projects and special assignments. Maintain specialization and expertise in one or more specific lines of business. Remain current on current trends, new developments, technologies and practices in the auditing profession, financial services industry, and area of specialization.
  • Build subject matter expertise in industry areas and stay up to date on new industry developments.
  • Use risk management knowledge to assess relevance of audit findings, potential exposures, materiality and demonstrate awareness of big picture issues.
  • Provide leadership and development by mentoring new and junior team members and providing project feedback, including setting clear performance expectations.

You Have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business or related field, or equivalent education and related training or experience.
  • 7+ years of experience in audit in a role similar to an Audit Manager.
  • Advanced knowledge, ability and expertise in audit and a broad understanding in multiple areas of FinTech or financial services.
  • Substantial internal audit leadership experience.
  • Experience with risk management and process concepts.
  • Excellent analytical, facilitation, interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to grasp, communicate and teach others how to identify underlying concepts in complex information.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify, communicate and teach others how to identify root causes of problems
  • Working knowledge of standard software applications such as Google Workspace or Microsoft Office Software products.
  • Excellent project management and advisory skills.
  • Experience in public accounting, financial services regulatory compliance (Anti-Money Laundering, Know Your Customer, Sanctions) preferred.
  • Professional accounting or auditing designation (CA, CPA, CIA, CISA) preferred.
