The Role: Fund Controller - Permanent

Job Description
- Implement an effective control environment within the Luxembourg Operations Team’s fund activities
- Ensure effective and compliant oversight of the NAV oversight team and the Real Estate Property Fund Finance Team as a delegate of the Management Company in the NAV production process
- Ensure effective and compliant oversight of the Real Estate Property Fund Finance Team and the Fund Financial Reporting Oversight Team as a delegate in the management in the Fund’s Financial Statements process
- Ensure effective and compliant oversight of the Fund Financial Reporting Oversight Team as a delegate in the management and implementation of the Long Form Reports process.
Oversee the provision of services by delegates including partaking in service management reviews and reporting through the governance framework on their performance:
- Represent the Luxembourg Operations and Valuations Team at various Boards, Committees and Forums and act as a delegate for the Conducting Officer as required.
- Liaise and conduct effective stakeholder management in engagement with the delegates and internal teams.
- Manage the Luxembourg Operations Oversight Forum to assist the Management Company to demonstrate effective oversight of the respective delegates and control environment.
Understand and oversee the key controls that exist across the funds that the Luxembourg Management Company is the authorised manager:
- Ensure Team controls are documented at an appropriate level which should be owned and understood by the relevant parties.
- Ensure MI gives insight into these controls evidencing their appropriateness and effectiveness across fund ranges.
- Have and implement escalation procedures in order to have an awareness of changes to or deficiencies within the controls that are being raised by the operating business units.
- Implement SLAs agreements and measure and monitor across delegates
- Partake in Supplier Relationship Review Meetings on an ad-hoc basis
- Ensure through an effective control environment that incident reviews are satisfactorily processed to closure
- Interact and be lead liaison with second line with regards internal reviews and audits and also as raised by external auditors
- Oversight reporting to the key Luxembourg governance committees and boards as appropriate with being the Operations Representative at the Luxembourg Controls Committee and the Conducting Officer delegate for the Management Committee.
Conducting a regular end-to-end review of the control process covering both BAU and exceptions management:
- Ensure the exception to policy process is understood by all involved parties and executed to the defined standard
- Documented process and training facilitated
- Templates and policies reviewed for consistency
- Management information on exceptions and key control failures to relevant Committees such as the Local Controls Committee
- Central record owned and reviewed for completeness
Luxembourg Management Company Operational and Regulatory knowledge and exposure:
- Knowledge of the regulatory requirements of CSSF Circular 18/698 and the application of the oversight of delegates.
- Full understanding of the business processes and an awareness of industry standards and documenting any differentials.
- Provide oversight internal delegate teams which include the provision of the Financial Statements, NAV oversight and the process for the Long Form Reports)
- Report and/or escalate to relevant committees and bodies through the Governance framework as appropriate.
- Oversee that all policies for the Operations and Valuation function is implemented and updated accordingly in collaboration with the relevant stakeholders (NAV Error Policy, Oversight of Delegate Policy etc.)
- Attend and represent the Luxembourg entity at auditor and supplier meetings as appropriate.
- Supporting and leading new business initiatives (fund launches and strategic projects).
Key Skills and Qualifications:
- Professional qualification or equivalent or working towards such a qualification (ACCA, ACA, CFA, ACMA, or a MBA, MA or M.S in a relevant field.) is an advantage
- Highly experienced individual from an Investment Accounting, Fund Management background
- Ability and experience of communicating complex topics clearly and concisely
- Exceptional stakeholder (external and internal) management skills
- Experience of presenting to Committees and/or Boards
- Ability to demonstrate M&G’s values
