About the Job:

LaunchDarkly is seeking an experienced Frontend Engineer who is familiar with experimentation or other data-focused products to join our Experimentation team. The Experimentation team is responsible for building the feature set that allows customers to setup, manage, and view results of experiments. As a developer-focused toolset, we value product minded engineers at LaunchDarkly. The ideal candidate has opinions about what we build and how we build it, and wants to be involved in the whole product development lifecycle. You’ll be joining our team of backend, frontend, and fullstack engineers along with multiple product managers, data scientists, and designers, to build an experimentation product that earns the trust of even the most discerning data scientist while remaining accessible to those new to experimentation.

We are committed to delivering a leading experimentation platform that empowers our customers to run tests and data-driven experiments seamlessly and at scale. We have a robust product roadmap, and we are actively expanding our teams to execute on it.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, build, and maintain scalable frontend solutions for experimentation and data-driven products, focusing on usability, performance, and maintainability.

  • Partner closely with product managers, other engineers, data scientists, and designers to drive the implementation and release of business-impacting feature changes.

  • Resolve decisions of feature prioritization, technical design, and product functionality utilizing a deep understanding of frontend technologies, experimentation platforms, and internal dogfooding.

  • Proactively and incrementally improve product and code beyond assigned work.

  • Actively mentor and support colleagues across the organization

  • Write and review technical proposals, decomposing large projects into iterative releases.

  • Conduct code reviews, providing feedback to improve the code and the engineers writing it, focusing on reusability, performance, and maintainability.

  • Write unit and integration tests for all new features and load tests for performance-critical components.

  • Stay up-to-date with the latest trends in frontend development, experimentation, and data-driven products, and actively propose and implement improvements to tools, processes, and methodologies.

Qualifications:

  • 6+ years of experience as a frontend software developer or equivalent demonstrable skills and experience.

  • Experience building data-focused products such as experimentation platforms, analytics dashboards, or large-scale data visualizations.

  • Knowledge of experimentation methodologies (e.g., A/B testing, multivariate testing) and best practices.

  • Proficiency with modern JavaScript libraries and tooling, such as React.

  • Experience developing and consuming RESTful APIs.

  • Experience building and maintaining large-scale production systems.

  • Ability to thrive in a communicative and collaborative environment on a distributed team across multiple time zones.

  • Demonstrated ability to write clean, well-documented, and testable code with a focus on maintainability and extensibility.

  • Working knowledge of networking technologies, including TCP, HTTP, WebSockets, and server-sent events.

About LaunchDarkly:

Modern software delivery was supposed to be the foundation for a thriving digital business but reality has proven otherwise. Slow, inefficient development cycles, costly outages, and fragmented customer experiences are preventing developers from building their best software. The LaunchDarkly platform helps developers innovate on new features faster while protecting them with a safety valve to instantly rewind when things go wrong. Developers can target product experiences to any customer segment and maximize the business impact of every feature. And by gradually rolling out new application components, they escape nightmare "big-bang" technology migrations.

The LaunchDarkly platform was built to guide engineers to the next frontier of DevOps by:

  • Improving the velocity and stability of software releases, without the fear of end customer outages
  • Delivering targeted experiences by easily personalizing features to customer cohorts
  • Maximizing the business impact of every feature through the ability to experiment and optimize
  • Coordinating the release and optimization of software to provide consistent experiences across mobile platforms and device types
  • Improving the effectiveness and productivity of engineering teams, by providing insights into engineering cadence and stability
