Role Overview: Daniel’s Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) team is seeking an exceptional Financial Analyst to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will help support a wide cross-section of Daniels’ financial planning and analysis work, ranging from the company’s long-term financial plan to individual company cost-savings initiatives.
What you will do:
Monthly reporting preparation:
- Own refresh of monthly FP&A team reports and upload key performance indicator (KPI) metrics to Prophix - Daniel's financial reporting system. Reports include: Individual business unit P&L packages, National Operations Review presentations, Validating savings generated from cost-savings initiatives
Profit and Loss management:
- Support team at month-end to compare actual results to budgeted figures, investigating and explaining any deviations
Monthly financial analysis and ad-hoc project preparation::
- Assist team in financial analysis interpreting data from various sources to identify trends, risks, and opportunities:
Revenue review by customer or by waste stream, Expense detail analysis to review spend by vendor or by item type, Key performance indicator review to identify areas for processing improvement
Budgeting and forecasting:
- Consolidate budget submissions from various departments, upload to Prophix reporting system and generate budget packages for Business Units. Perform high level review for accuracy after upload
Daniels health and Industry knowledge:
- Familiarize yourself with Daniels’ product offerings, cost structure and how our plants’ waste management activities drive impact on our financial results
Who you are:
- Bachelor’s degree is required; Accounting or Finance degree preferred
- 0-2 years of relevant financial modelling and analysis, accounting, or finance experience
- Advanced MS Excel skills with a mindset of formula efficiency
- Intellectual curiosity, ability to stay organized, and proactive approach to learning and execution
- Able to communicate in a clear, concise and impactful manner – both written and verbally – within our Team and to cross-functional partners (Operations, Accounting, Billing, Commercial and Sales)
- Strong quantitative skills with the ability to drive projects from start to finish and display clear attention to detail
- Entrepreneurial, collaborative, and “can-do” personality
Where you will be:
- This is a hybrid role based in our Chicago office (3 days a week required), intermittent travel to various national plants for projects as needed
