The Fitter is responsible for reading blueprints to fabricate, lay out, position, align, fit parts of metal products as well as weld to craft components from raw material
Responsibilities
- Follow all workplace and job safety procedures
- Maintain a clean and save work environment Cleans and organizes common areas such as restroom and breakroom as needed Cross trains and participates in other job functions of the fabrication shop as needed Other duties as assigned May be asked to partake in any of the current shop positions at TPI at anytime due to workload; the positions are as follows: o Assembler/Shipper – Assembles final product and loads onto trucks o Fitter – Crafts components from raw material o Laborer – Provides support to the shop and to other positions as needed o Painter/Sandblaster – Paints sandblasted material and removes rust from fabricated material o Processor – Operates one of the following machines: Angle/Beam Line, Burn Table, Press Brake, or Saw o Quality Control – Ensures all pieces are fabricated to exact blueprint requirements o Welder – Welds fitted material
- Quality
- Sample and test raw, in process materials, finished goods and record results
- Properly complete paperwork
- Operate mobile equipment (forklift, Bobcat) to assist where needed
- Communicate with team escalating issues as necessary
- Keep area clean and keep areas generally neat an orderly to meet housekeeping standards
- Other related duties as assigned and serve as back up resources as needed which includes filling in for associates on PTO or leave
Qualifications
- Ability to work multiple shift schedules and rotating shifts as required
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to independently manage priorities and schedule to meet deadlines.
- Willing to work different shifts as needed with proper notification
- Complete understanding of operating equipment to include but not limited to forklifts
- 12 months experience in operating, loading, or unloading equipment
Preferred Qualifications - What Will Set You Apart
- High School diploma or GED
- Previous work experience
- Extensive blueprint reading exp. Stainless steel welding certified/or ability to become certified in MIG
- Mechanical aptitude
Working Conditions
- Must be able to work in outdoor environments and occasionally in temperatures above 100 degrees and below 32 degrees.
- Willing and able to work in a hot, humid, cold and noisy industrial environment.
- Work includes high places more than 100 feet, use main lifts and work in confined spaces.
- Willing and able to maintain strict adherence to safety rules and regulations, to include wearing safety equipment.
- Available to work evenings, weekends, and overnight to address unexpected site issues with or without notice.
Physical Requirements
- Willing and able to perform tasks such as lifting, walking, climbing, stooping, standing, pushing and/or pulling for up to twelve (12) hours a day
- Willing and able to work around moving equipment and machinery
- Willing and able to pull and lift, up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA and federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
