The FinOps team at Sisense plays a critical role in managing and optimizing cloud costs and software vendor expenses, with a strong focus on maximizing value in alignment with company goals.
This role provides an opportunity to work across various departments, helping drive financial efficiency, cost optimization, and strategic decision-making in a dynamic company environment.
HOW YOU’LL RAMP:
By Day 30 – Getting Familiar with the Environment, Tools & Stakeholders
- Gain a deep understanding of Sisense’s cloud environments, product, and architecture.
- Learn about key stakeholders' roles in cloud operations, procurement, and finance.
- Get familiar with Sisense's procurement process and software vendor landscape.
- Review existing cost management and FinOps tools to understand how costs are tracked and optimized.
- Participate in FinOps meetings to understand current projects, challenges, and cost initiatives.
- Begin reviewing existing cloud spend reports and vendor agreements to analyze spending patterns.
By Day 60 – Diving into Cost Analysis & Optimization
- Start conducting detailed cloud cost analysis, identifying trends, anomalies, and potential areas for optimization.
- Identify rightsizing, reservation, and cost reduction opportunities across multiple cloud providers.
- Work closely with Engineering and Product teams to recommend and implement cloud cost optimization strategies.
- Begin contributing to FinOps projects, such as improving internal cost dashboards and cloud spend forecasting models.
- Develop an understanding of vendor utilization and business impact, working with owners to assess spending efficiency.
By Day 90 – Adding Value Through Vendor Management & Strategic Planning
- Take an active role in vendor cost management, evaluating ROI and usage trends to support long-term decision-making.
- Assist in developing budget forecasts for cloud costs and software expenses, working with Finance and leadership.
- Propose long-term cost optimization strategies, including contract adjustments, pricing negotiations, and vendor consolidation.
- Establish ongoing review processes for cloud costs, vendor spend, and budget alignment to support Sisense's financial objectives.
WHAT YOU’VE ACCOMPLISHED... SO FAR:
- 1-3 years of experience in FinOps, cloud cost management, or financial analysis.
- Strong understanding of cloud pricing models, cost optimization strategies, and software vendor analysis.
- A team player with the ability to work across multiple departments (Engineering, Product, Finance, Procurement) to drive cost efficiencies.
- Passionate about cost optimization and FinOps best practices, with a data-driven approach to problem-solving.
- Technical background in cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) is a plus.
