Job Description:

The Wall Street Journal is looking for an Executive Assistant to work as part of the Managing Editor’s Office, supporting the Deputy Editor in Chief and the Executive Editor. This job will also provide secondary support and holiday coverage to the Editor in Chief’s Senior Manager. This role requires an adept professional with organizational expertise, interpersonal finesse, and a commitment to discretion. You will manage business-related tasks such as creating reports, organizing travel and accommodations, and other administrative responsibilities. Success in this position requires strong skills in relationship building both within and outside the newsroom, the ability to gauge the atmosphere in various settings, and tactfully manage diverse work styles. This New York office-based position demands a proactive and self-motivated individual with proven experience as an executive assistant.

You will:

  • Be in the office five days a week.

  • Provide support to projects and processes within the Managing Editor’s Office

  • Manage the calendar, travel, and expenses for the Deputy Editor in Chief and the Executive Editor with attention to detail, timelines, and budget management

  • Support the Editor-in-Chief’s Senior Manager by expertly coordinating events and complex travel arrangements

  • Arrange video conferences/teleconferences, including tech support for seamless execution of meetings.

  • Manage catering and other logistical needs for meetings and events

  • Prepare materials and files ahead of meetings and events to ensure the executive is equipped for success

  • Build and maintain effective relationships with internal teams, newsroom staff, and external stakeholders, fostering trust and credibility across the organization

  • Serve as a bridge for smooth communication between the Managing Editor’s office and internal departments, navigating sensitive matters with discretion

  • Anticipate and address conflicting priorities, handling matters proactively and ensuring timely follow-through on projects under deadline pressures

You have:

  • 5+ years of experience as an executive assistant, supporting a C-Suite executive.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), Zoom, and the Google Suite of products.

  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to anticipate needs.

  • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information with superior judgment and discretion.

  • Familiarity with the dynamics of large corporations and newsrooms.

  • Clear and effective communication skills, including excellent writing ability.

  • Ability to assess situations and adapt to different personalities and professional styles with tact and professionalism.

  • A positive, problem-solving attitude

Pay Range: $110,000 - $130,000
