Job Description

Role Summary

This is a senior role within the Enterprise Project Management Office (EPMO) and will report to the Head of Delivery Assurance, Enterprise PMO and R&D Tax Credits function.

The EPMO Manager will be responsible for leading the EPMO Team, comprising Project/Delivery Management Coaches and Project Management Officers (PMOs).

They will represent the EPMO in the wider organization working closely with Senior Leaders within our Delivery Practices, our Delivery Assurance peers and the Delivery Community as a whole.

The EPMO Manager will be tasked with aligning the work of the EPMO to the needs of the stakeholder community; ensuring a collaborative approach leads to effort being committed to the highest value activities to deliver short-, medium- and long-term value.

Duties & Responsibilities

Establishing & running the EPMO

  • Formally establish the EPMO including, ways of working and selected functions
  • Define measures of performance and success
  • Be an advocate and ambassador for the Team and it’s services, networking across the organization to implement best practices and seize opportunities

Team Management & Leadership

  • Day-to-day line management of PMO Team
  • Liaising with Practice Leadership, Delivery Assurance Peers and other departments as necessary in line with the EPMOs work
  • Growing and support an engaging environment within the team
  • Encouraging a positive challenge environment to ensure we are ‘doing the right things’ and ‘doing things right’
  • Creating and maintaining Personal Development and Team Maturity plans; including professional growth and learning

Staff Development

  • Identify, plan and drive Team Maturity development
  • Establish individual growth and development plans
  • Work with Head of the Function and Function peers to understand future/forecast demand and prepare/invest in EPMO Team accordingly
  • Undertake regular capability & maturity assessments
  • Understand promotion paths and succession planning

Project Methodologies, Documentation & Delivery Approach

  • Own Delivery Methodologies on behalf of the organization, or liaise with Practice Leads for individual/specific methodologies
  • Drive consistency of process, define or contribute to definitions of single operating model policies, processes and procedures
  • Drive adoption of policies, processes and procedures in collaboration with Practice Leadership
  • Driving continuous improvement across Delivery


Qualifications

  • 12+ Years Experience of Project Management or Project/Programme/Portfolio Office Management
  • Certification or Accreditation in PMO (such as PMO-CP/CC, P3M3 or similar)
  • Experience of Waterfall, Agile & Hybrid delivery models
  • Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Highly organised
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships with key stakeholders at all levels
  • Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams
  • Passion for Continuous Improvement, new ideas/approaches and agility

Desirable

  • Leadership/Management Qualification
  • Certification or Accreditation in Project Management or Agile Delivery
  • Previous experience:
    • within IT Consultancy
    • delivery of projects and/or programmes
    • Delivering Assurance/Governance or working in collaboration with Assurance/Governance function
  • Ability to negotiate/influence
  • Knowledge of Project Management approaches and documentation
  • Experience with tools such as Jira, SharePoint, MS Project, PowerBI
