Job Summary
Enterprise Architect – Hands-On IT Architecture and Implementation
We are seeking an experienced Enterprise Architect with a strong focus on the hands-on implementation of IT architecture. This role will be critical in designing, deploying, and managing the IT infrastructure for over 30 international locations. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of networking, cloud technologies, and security best practices, coupled with the ability to translate architectural strategies into scalable, reliable solutions.
Duties and responsibilities
Design and Implementation:
- Architect, configure, and deploy various network devices and services, including routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, VPNs, and QoS systems.
- Design and implement network systems such as LAN, WAN, WLAN, and SD-WAN to support business needs.
- Deploy secure and scalable cloud networking solutions for hybrid environments (AWS, Azure, GCP).
System Maintenance and Monitoring:
- Perform network and system maintenance, including applying patches, updates, and security configurations.
- Monitor system resource utilization, performance, and reliability using tools like SolarWinds and Wireshark.
- Lead capacity planning efforts to ensure infrastructure scalability.
Security and Compliance:
- Collaborate with the security team to implement robust security tools, policies, and procedures.
- Manage firewalls, IDS/IPS systems, and encryption technologies to maintain secure networks.
Collaboration and Support:
- Work within established configuration and change management frameworks to ensure alignment with organizational policies.
- Liaise with vendors and internal IT teams to resolve technical issues and enhance system performance.
- Provide clear technical documentation, including system architecture, infrastructure changes, and operational procedures.
Job Skills and Traits
- Proven expertise in designing and managing complex network systems, including advanced routing and switching protocols (e.g., OSPF, BGP, MPLS, VLANs).
- Proficiency in cloud networking platforms and software-defined networking (SD-WAN).
- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills with experience using network monitoring tools.
- Knowledge of wireless networking standards (Wi-Fi 6, mesh networking) and load balancing solutions.
- Advanced understanding of network security protocols, vulnerability assessments, and risk management.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of explaining technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and detail-oriented mindset, with the ability to remain calm under pressure and meet deadlines.
Qualifications
- 7+ years of proven hands-on experience in network engineering and IT architecture.
- Deep knowledge of networking protocols (e.g., IPSEC, HSRP, OSPF, QoS) and the OSI/TCP/IP models.
- Experience with network analytics tools, SD-WAN, WAN compression, and SIEM strategies.
- Ability to align technology solutions with organizational strategy, balancing financial and operational trade-offs.
- Demonstrated ability to document and communicate system changes effectively to production and support teams.
This role is ideal for a highly skilled professional who thrives in dynamic, fast-paced environments and has the expertise to shape the IT infrastructure supporting our global operations.
We are pleased to share the base salary range for this position is $145,000 to $165,000. If you are hired at BDA, your compensation will be determined based on factors that may include geographic location, skills, education, and experience. In addition to these factors, we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity of our current team members as a part of any offer. In the spirit of pay transparency, the range listed is the full base salary range for the role and hiring at the top of the range would not be typical, in order to allow for future salary growth. The range listed is just one component of BDA’s total compensation and rewards programs, which includes: robust PTO; vacation, a paid volunteer day, holidays and summer Fridays, Benefits; medical, dental, vision, life, and AD&D insurance, 401k; tuition reimbursement, mental health and financial wellness programs and professional development opportunities including tuition reimbursement. Certain revenue-generating positions may be eligible for incentive compensation.
