We’re seeking an Engineering Manager to lead our User Profile team. You’ll be at the helm of building and optimizing a cutting-edge platform that supports data-driven products and drives strategic outcomes for our customers.

This team is building a comprehensive, unified view of our clients’ customers. The team is responsible for identifying, collecting, and integrating user data from on-site and third party sources to create a unified, actionable profile of each customer. Attentive uses this data to personalize content onsite and in messaging. By delivering more relevant content, Attentive is able to drive higher performance for our clients and better experiences for their customers. As the Engineering Manager, you will play a pivotal role in defining the vision, strategy, and execution for this team, ensuring it can effectively meet current and future needs.

In this role, you'll collaborate closely with Machine Learning, Product Management, and Engineering leadership to ensure the User Profile meets the needs of these teams and our clients. This hands-on role requires a balance of people management, technical direction, and cross-functional leadership, making it ideal for a leader who excels in driving innovation and execution.

What You'll Accomplish

• Lead the technical vision for the User Profile team, aligning with company goals and driving strategic outcomes through innovative data solutions
• Oversee the design and implementation of high-throughput data solutions, ensuring that they are scalable, efficient, and capable of powering critical operations
• Partner with teams across AI, ML, analytics, and other departments to enhance and expand our platform, ensuring it meets the evolving needs of the organization
• Establish and uphold high standards for data quality, governance, and system integration; addressing complex distributed data challenges with robust solutions
• Recruit, mentor, and develop a high-performing engineering team, fostering a culture of continuous learning, experimentation, and collaboration
• Balance and prioritize multiple projects, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with business objectives while maintaining high standards of technical excellence
• Champion the technical design, development, implementation and support of web stack and big data applications including extending its capabilities applications using existing and emerging technology platforms

Your Expertise

• You have 5+ years of industry experience developing software, with a proven track record of solving complex big data challenges and delivering impactful solutions
• You are knowledgeable about data modeling, data access, and data storage, and have experience building high-scale, low latency applications
• You are an outstanding coach and mentor, with a talent for developing high-performing teams and nurturing a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration
• You have a strong commitment to software quality, with a history of building reliable, high-uptime systems that meet and exceed performance expectations
• You excel at translating business needs into well-defined projects, taking a hands-on approach to solution design, implementation, and execution
• You are passionate about emerging technologies and have the ability to evaluate and choose the right tools and technologies to drive innovation while balancing practical considerations
• You thrive in a collaborative environment, working effectively with cross-functional teams to align technical solutions with business goals and ensure cohesive execution

What We Use

• Our infrastructure runs primarily in Kubernetes hosted in AWS’s EKS
• Infrastructure tooling includes Istio, Datadog, Terraform, CloudFlare, and Helm
• Our backend is Java / Spring Boot microservices, built with Gradle, coupled with things like DynamoDB, Kinesis, AirFlow, Postgres, Planetscale, and Redis, hosted via AWS
• Our frontend is built with React and TypeScript, and uses best practices like GraphQL, Storybook, Radix UI, Vite, esbuild, and PlaywrightOur automation is driven by custom and open source machine learning models, lots of data and built with Python, Metaflow, HuggingFace 🤗, PyTorch, TensorFlow, and Pandas

- The US base salary range for this full time position is $182,240 - $235,000 annually + equity + benefits
