At In The Pocket, we’re looking for an Engineering Lead to be the driving force behind the success of our Software & Quality Engineering group. In this pivotal role, you’ll bridge the gap between management and engineers, ensuring alignment, growth, and excellence across the team.

 What will you do?Managing Engineering Excellence

• Serve as the voice of the Engineering group, communicating their priorities to the broader team while aligning team efforts with organizational goals. 
• Shape strategies for new engineering niches, while building robust support structures like academies, coaching, and tooling.
• Represent the team in leadership syncs and operational discussions, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives.
• You will also oversee the change management process to ensure the smooth adoption and integration of AI-based efficiency initiatives.

Drive the Growth of the Engineering Team

• Co-develop hiring plans and oversee the recruitment pipeline, focusing on the right mix of skills and experience levels.
• Conduct interviews, assess technical and soft skills

Foster Team Development & Engagement

• Support internal mobility, role transitions, and performance calibration to ensure every engineer is in the right role to succeed.
• Build strong relationships with senior engineers and be a trusted mentor and advisor.
• Conduct regular check-ins to discuss goals, ambitions, and challenges, providing guidance on career development and work-life balance.
• Tackle underperformance constructively while creating opportunities for high performers to shine.

Enable Operational Excellence

• Validate proposals, budgets, and team feasibility for projects and presales efforts.
• Oversee onboarding processes, internal networking, and collaboration to ensure seamless integration for new joiners.

Steer Strategic & Practical Operations

• Validate IT tooling budgets, oversee salary budgets, and monitor engagement survey results to identify actionable improvements.
• Collaborate on monthly tribe reporting and quarterly planning alongside the Product Lead.
• Facilitate team switches, address project escalations, and continuously optimize engineering group operations.

Who you are?

• You hold a technical degree in engineering, computer sciences, informatics, AI, …
• You have proven yourself as a leader in engineering or technology roles, with a strong focus on people management and strategic planning.
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to connect with engineers at all levels.
• A data-driven mindset and a passion for aligning team dynamics with organizational goals.
• Hands-on experience in hiring, performance management, and fostering team engagement.
