Job Description: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Embedded Firmware Architect to join our innovative team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing and developing firmware for in-vehicle infotainment (IVI) displays, gauges, and control modules, ensuring they meet the highest standards of performance, reliability, and user experience.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Understand customer requirements for Polaris' products
  • Lead the design and development of embedded firmware for IVI displays, gauges, and control modules within vehicles, advise developers on design implementation and code reviews.
  • Provide high-level estimates and task breakdown.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including hardware engineers, software developers, and product managers, to define firmware requirements and specifications.
  • Conduct feasibility studies and risk assessments to ensure the viability of firmware designs.
  • Develop and maintain detailed documentation, including design specifications, code documentation, and test plans.
  • Oversee the prototyping, testing, and validation of firmware to ensure it meets performance and reliability standards.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends and technologies to incorporate innovative solutions into firmware designs.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and other team members.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards and regulations.
  • Optimize firmware for performance, memory usage, and power consumption.
  • Develop and manage the firmware roadmap for IVI displays, gauges, and control modules, ensuring alignment with overall product strategy and timelines.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Proven experience (8+ years) in embedded firmware design and development.
  • Strong knowledge of embedded systems, microcontrollers, and real-time operating systems (RTOS).
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as C/C++ and assembly.
  • Experience with hardware-software integration and debugging.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Knowledge of industry standards and regulations (e.g., ISO, IEC, AUTOSAR).
  • Experience with vehicle communication protocols (e.g., CAN, LIN, FlexRay).

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with IVI systems and automotive electronics.
  • Familiarity with graphics libraries and display technologies.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity principles and practices for embedded systems.
  • Experience with Agile development methodologies.

The pay range for Minnesota is $127,000 to $160,000 per year. Individual salaries are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills, and geography.
