Do you want to help make the world safe from cyber attack?
At Corelight, we believe that the best approach to cybersecurity risk starts with the network.  Attackers can evade endpoint detection, firewalls and many other technologies - but they can’t avoid leaving digital footprints on the networks they traverse.  Built on open-source innovations from Zeek, Suricata and YARA and refined through years of real-world use,  Corelight transforms network footprints from physical, virtual and cloud networks into actionable insights.   Our customers use these insights to speed incident response and proactively hunt for threats.

As the Director of User Experience (UX), you will be responsible for defining and driving a comprehensive user experience strategy across our entire product suite. We’re seeking someone with a deep understanding of SOC (Security Operations Center) personas and workflows, alongside a proven track record in cybersecurity-focused product design. This highly collaborative leadership position requires a strategic, data-driven mindset, strong people-management skills, and a passion for creating delightful experiences that solve real customer problems. You will partner closely with product management, engineering, marketing, and sales to ensure our solutions exceed user expectations and help SOC teams operate efficiently and effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic UX Leadership: Develop and refine a visionary UX strategy that aligns with Corelight’s overarching product and business goals. Champion user-centricity and usability best practices within a fast-paced cybersecurity environment.
  • Team Management & Development: Build, mentor, and manage a high-performing team of UX designers. Foster a culture of innovation, continuous learning, and collaboration.
  • SOC-Centric Design: Leverage a deep understanding of SOC workflows and personas to design intuitive tools and dashboards that address the unique challenges faced by security analysts, threat hunters, and incident responders.
  • Data-Driven Decisions: Utilize analytics, user research, and iterative testing to guide UX decisions, validate hypotheses, and measure success. Maintain close alignment with product metrics to ensure user experience goals are met.
  • User Testing & Research: Oversee the planning and execution of user research, usability testing, and customer feedback sessions. Synthesize findings to inform product improvements and enhance overall UX.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with product managers, engineering, and other stakeholders to prioritize feature roadmaps, ensuring UX considerations are integrated from concept to release.
  • Innovation & Best Practices: Keep abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in design, accessibility, and security. Continuously push the limits of design innovation while maintaining alignment with user needs.
  • Quality & Consistency: Establish and maintain design guidelines, patterns, and processes to ensure consistent, high-quality experiences across Corelight’s product portfolio.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Computer Science, or a related field. An advanced degree is a plus.
  • Experience:
    • 7+ years of experience in product design with a strong focus on UX.
    • 3+ years of experience managing and developing teams of UX designers.
    • Proven track record in delivering complex, data-driven designs within highly technical or cybersecurity-focused domains.
  • Technical & Domain Expertise:
    • Demonstrated understanding of cybersecurity concepts, SOC workflows, and the threat landscape.
    • Familiarity with design tools (e.g., Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD) and research methodologies.
  • Strategic Thinking & Execution: Ability to balance multiple high-level priorities, distill complex concepts into intuitive user flows, and influence the product roadmap at an executive level.
  • Communication & Collaboration: Exceptional communication skills with the ability to engage stakeholders across diverse functions (engineering, product management, sales, marketing).
  • Attention to Detail: Strong eye for detail to ensure design consistency and adherence to brand standards, usability guidelines, and security best practices.
