What We Need:
Synapse Health is a growing healthcare tech company. We move fast, think big, and care deeply—about our people, our patients, and our mission to transform DME through technology. Reporting to the Chief People Officer, we are seeking a strategic and operationally strong Director, Total Rewards with a focus on Compensation, to lead Synapse’s compensation strategy and execution. This is a remote role and you will design and continuously refine our compensation framework—covering base pay, variable pay, equity, and executive compensation—to attract, retain, and motivate top talent. This role is equal parts business partner and operational leader—someone who can influence executive stakeholders and ensure our programs are market-competitive, equitable, and aligned with our high-growth trajectory.

What You Will Do:

  • Lead compensation strategy, including job architecture, pay bands, market benchmarking, incentive programs, and executive compensation frameworks.
  • Continuously benchmark and analyze market data to maintain competitive and equitable salary structures globally.
  • Lead the annual compensation review cycle, including salary adjustments, bonus programs, and equity grants.
  • Conduct a Total Rewards assessment, market analysis, and monitor the effectiveness of existing compensation and benefits plans, policies, guidelines, processes and technology as well as market trends to stay current and competitive with needs of the organization, leadership and employees.
  • Partner with the Chief People Officer and executive leadership to shape executive compensation frameworks, including board-level discussions where applicable.
  • Provide thought leadership to the business using analytics and market research on compensation issues and trends including new hire packages, performance recognition, incentive plans, retention arrangements and overall compensation structure.
  • Develop and deliver a comprehensive total rewards communication and education plan with simple tools that can be used by recruiters, candidates, and employees to effectively communicate all aspects of a Total Rewards compensation package and tell the value story of company.
  • Oversee the design of equity programs, ensuring compliance and alignment with our growth objectives.
  • Work closely with HR Business Partners and Talent Acquisition to design compelling total rewards packages for new hires, promotions, and retention strategies.

What You Have:

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in compensation, including executive compensation, with at least 5 years in a leadership capacity.
  • Proven success using data to drive decisions, simplify complex frameworks, and make recommendations to C-level executives.
  • Strong understanding of how compensation programs impact broader organizational objectives, including financial planning and talent strategies.
  • Experience influencing and communicating effectively with senior executives, board members, and cross-functional partners.
  • Familiarity with compensation analytics tools, HRIS platforms, and relevant compliance regulations.
  • Demonstrated ability to build, scale, and motivate a growing team; committed to fostering a culture of collaboration and inclusion.
