Job Description:

We are seeking a highly experienced Director of Technical Sales (Application Engineering) to lead our pre-sales application engineering efforts for solar and energy storage inverters in the U.S. market. This leadership role is responsible for managing a team of application engineers, working closely with sales, product management, and customers to ensure the successful integration and deployment of our inverter solutions. The ideal candidate will have deep technical expertise in power electronics, grid integration, and PV system design, along with strong leadership and customer engagement skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Technical Leadership: Lead and develop the application engineering team, providing technical guidance and training on solar inverters, power conversion, and grid integration.
  • Customer Support & Pre-Sales Engineering: Serve as a technical expert for customers, supporting sales teams in presenting and deploying solar inverters for various applications.
  • Solution Design & Integration: Work closely with EPCs, developers, and utilities to optimize system designs, troubleshoot performance issues, and ensure compliance with grid codes and standards.
  • Product Customization & Feedback: Collaborate with R&D and product management teams to provide market-driven insights and feedback for product improvements and new developments.
  • Regulatory & Compliance Expertise: Stay up to date on industry standards (UL 1741, IEEE 1547, NEC, NERC, etc.) and ensure product solutions align with U.S. market regulations.
  • Training & Knowledge Sharing: Develop and deliver technical training programs for internal teams, customers, and partners on best practices for solar inverter deployment and maintenance.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Act as a liaison between engineering, sales, and marketing teams to align technical support efforts with business objectives.
  • Issue Resolution & Field Support: Provide high-level support for troubleshooting complex field issues, working with service teams to ensure customer satisfaction.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, Renewable Energy, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in application engineering, technical sales support, or a similar role within the solar inverter or power electronics industry.
  • Strong knowledge of solar inverters, grid-tied power conversion, and energy storage integration.
  • Familiarity with industry regulations, utility interconnection standards, and certification requirements in the U.S.
  • Proven experience leading teams and managing technical customer engagements.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to analyze complex technical challenges.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Willingness to travel as needed to support customers, attend industry events, and conduct site visits.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with energy storage systems (ESS) and solar inverter solutions.
  • Knowledge of SCADA systems, communication protocols (Modbus, SunSpec, etc.), and remote monitoring platforms.
  • Prior experience working with utility-scale solar developers, EPCs, or grid operators.

Pay Range (Applicable to California)

$180,000.00 - $210,000.00 dependent on level of experience
