WHAT YOU’LL DO
Teach for America is increasing our investment in our student outcomes strategy that combines multiple approaches to tell the story of our impact on the students we serve. We are looking for a seasoned and dynamic individual to support this work. The ideal candidate will be familiar with Teach For America’s current data ecosystem as well as aspects of student achievement data. The Director, Student Outcomes Data is a key role focused on enhancing the educational success of students through strategic partnerships with schools and districts. This position is responsible for securing and managing data sharing agreements, ensuring compliance with legal and ethical standards, and leveraging data to drive informed decision-making. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in education, data management, and relationship building, with a passion for improving student outcomes.
WHAT YOU’LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR
Data Sharing Agreements and Partnership Management

Ensure that all TFA regions have the appropriate data sharing agreements in place to:

Gain access to local education agency (LEA) and/or state education agency (SEA) academic outcomes to monitor student learning (ex: classroom rosters, interim assessments, state assessments).

Deliver surveys and online tools as required by our Corps Members and Ignite programs (ex: Cultivate student survey).

Support the negotiation and execution of data sharing agreements with school and district placement partners, including the collection and management of data from placement partners.

With the Legal and Information Security Teams, ensure all agreements comply with legal, ethical, and organizational standards.

Monitor and manage the implementation of data sharing agreements, addressing any issues or concerns.

Offer continuous support to facilitate the effective implementation and utilization of data sharing agreements, while also monitoring deadlines to ensure timely renewals.

Lead training for internal staff on data sharing processes and best practices.
Data Management and Analysis

Contribute to the development of student achievement reporting and analysis by supporting region staff in collecting data from partners, performing data cleaning, and ingesting data.

Conducted comprehensive analysis of student data to enhance program development and monitor performance.

Delivered data-driven insights and recommendations to optimize student outcomes.

Provide support and best practices to regions in the areas of data analysis and interpretation.
Codify Learning and Practices

Work alongside the SMD, Student Outcomes to develop policies and codify learning in all areas of student outcomes (DSAs, student achievement data, 2030 goal, etc.)

Work with TFA regional teams to ensure systems are in place for data sharing and data analysis.
YOUR EXPERIENCE
Your areas of knowledge and expertise that matter most for this role (minimum qualifications):

3-5 years of work experience

Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to effectively manage across teams and establish positive working relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders

Strong analytical skills, including proficiency in data management tools (e.g., Excel, Power BI, Salesforce)

Proven project management abilities, including setting priorities and milestones

Exceptional written and verbal communication skills which translate to broad audiences of education stakeholders

Exceptional strategic and critical thinking skills

Commitment to racial equity

Advanced degree and/or certification with data or data governance focus preferred

Experience working with local education agencies (LEA) in the area of assessments or student data systems

Strong understanding of education data privacy laws and regulations
WORK DEMANDS

Working with colleagues who are based all over the country – using remote technologies

Ability to travel to in-person meetings in various U.S. cities 1-2 times/quarter

The Program Impact, Learning, and Evaluation team is a diverse and dynamic group of individuals who are passionate about solving the challenges that ensure the ability for TFA to meet its goal of education equity. The team is responsible for evaluating and supporting TFA's performance and program effectiveness using metrics, strategic insights, analytics, research, and classroom outcomes to drive improvement, increase impact, and contribute knowledge.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
The applicable salary range for each U.S.-based role is based on where the employee works and is aligned to one of 3 tiers according to a cost of labor index in that geographic area. Starting pay for the successful applicant will depend on a variety of job-related factors, which may include education, training, experience, location, business needs, or market demands. New hires are typically brought into the organization at a salary between the range minimum and the salary range midpoint depending on qualifications, internal equity, and the budgeted amount for the role. The expected salary range for this role is set forth below. This range may be modified in the future.
