Director, Head Quality Control

In the idyllic town of Visp we are looking for a Head Quality Control. In this role, you will provide leadership for all Small Molecule QC laboratories related to Lonza’s Visp site. You will ensure adequate resources (staff, laboratory and instrumentation) to accomplish the on-time delivery of testing results and services and are responsible for the delivery and release of batch related testing for all products manufactured in our Manufacturing plants. You develop, drive and implement a QC- strategy in alignment with the overall QC-Visp strategy and drive efficiency of the QC execution across the project portfolio. Key responsibilities:

• Lead and manage a dedicated team of approximately 170-180 hard-working professionals, including approximately 6 direct reports.

• Drive and successfully implement the transfer and  consolidation of laboratories, ensuring a seamless transition and reorganization into a highly efficient structure.

• Champion continuous improvement initiatives, encouraging a culture of Leanlab and operational excellence.

• Motivate and prepare the organization for change, balancing strict delivery timelines with outstanding quality and compliance standards.

• Develop budget proposal for the whole organization in scope according to target expectations. This includes Operational cost and CAPEX.

• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure flawless execution of Quality Control processes in a dynamic environment.

Key requirements:

• Ideally possess an MSc or PhD in natural sciences (chemical, pharmaceutical subject areas are advantageous).

• Proven leadership experience in managing leaders.

• In-depth understanding of Quality Control principles and practices.

• Proficiency in English is mandatory

• Strong customer service and collaboration mindset

• Strong communicator with the ability to present needs and strategic concepts clearly, backed by facts and figures.
