Title: Director, Engineering (CTV)

Job Type: Permanent ; 3 days in office
Job Location: NYC
Salary Range: $220,000 - $240,000

The Opportunity: As a Director of Engineering, you will lead one of Kargo’s CTV Engineering team building advanced products that revolutionize how CTV is monetized. You will lead the architecture effort, manage members of your engineering team, and will be responsible for recruiting, training, and developing your team’s skill-sets. Ultimately you will be successful if and only if your team is successful. We want our engineers to be self-starters, eager learners, who will grow with our company. As a manager, it is your day to day responsibility to ensure that the team is productive, positive, and most importantly - always learning and improving.

You should be comfortable working alongside other Engineering, Product, and Design teams to develop clean code. Ultimately, you will help shape and define our creative and collaborative processes and will follow a best practice approach to producing high-performing products.

The Daily To-Do

  • You are a seasoned senior software engineering manager or director who oversees multiple teams of software engineers.
  • Your experience working with multiple languages and frameworks helps you understand which is the right tool/language for whichever is the problem at hand.
  • You have a strong understanding of software design patterns and are able to clearly communicate guidelines and best practices to the teams you manage.
  • You have strong analytical skills that help in spearheading efforts to identify where and when to fix a bug vs when it makes more sense to refactor the codebase to prevent similar issues in the future.
  • You are expected to be able to collaborate with other engineering teams  to fix and deploy any bugs or features that come your way, as well as to set best practices and help improve upon the way we build products.
  • You will participate in architecture planning, project planning, retrospectives, and learning sessions to help spread knowledge.
  • You spearhead investigations into new technologies, evaluate prototypes and test solutions for product features, and oversee  validation of production designs that deliver exceptional user experiences.

Qualifications :

  • B.S or higher in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics (or equivalent work experience).
  • At least 6 years of experience managing multiple teams of software engineers with major successful outcomes.
  • Familiarity with the Advertising Technology industry, standards, and ecosystem (auction dynamics, bidding logic, data integration, targeting methods, ad podding, etc.) is a major plus.
  • Experience with CTV streaming and CTV ad formats is a major plus.
  • Familiarity with data pipelines and ETL processes is a major plus.
  • Experience with Software Development Life Cycle, CI/CD, QA, and deployment processes.
  • Experience managing off-shore teams.
  • Experience with agile methodologies.
  • Experience spearheading software architecture and design.
  • Experience working in a Dockerized Kubernetes environment on AWS is a plus.
  • Ability to take a loosely defined idea from the brainstorming phase to production, including the architecture plan, development, and testing process.

  • Experience building strong working relationships and rapport with direct reports; proven track record or employee retention and high team member engagement.
