Meet The Team:

Within the Compute Foundation organization, the Platform Integration group is responsible for the management and integration of the Autonomous Driving Kit (AD-Kit) components into the redundant chassis. This integrated solution is the basis for Torc’s Autonomous Driving solution and includes the integration of all sensors, compute, and vehicle components.

The Platform Integration Group achieves their goals through close collaboration with internal groups, our AD-Kit Components Group and our Truck OEM partner, while focusing on the itegration design, development, and release of the system components into the truck.

What You’ll Do:

We are looking for a seasoned leader that will bring new ideas, optimizations, and best practices to the entire platform integration organization. As a director, you will work closely with managers and engineers to deliver the platform foundation that support the development of Torc’s Self-Driving Truck solution.

The Director of Engineering – Platform Integration owns and drives the design and development of the integration of all AD-Kit components into the underlying vehicle platform, as well as the build-up and release of our development platforms.

The organization works directly with our OEM Partner(s) and other engineering organizations to derive and specify the requirements for the system integration and ensures high-quality delivery of the platforms.

The Director Engineering is accountable for the execution strategy to achieve robust platform deliveries, while also meeting the demands of a fast-paced modern system development business by providing tools and solutions. He/She is accountable for defining, setting and executing standards. This individual builds highly diversified teams to address these objectives and fosters growth in leaders to facilitate the needs of the organization. The Director Engineering is accountable for organizational processes and metrics, which drives consistent behavior and delivery across the engineering group.

As a strategic thinker, the Director Engineering is staying on top of latest innovations and drive new ideas into the organization. He/She is also continuously reviewing internal developments and is proactively resolving roadblocks within his/her organization and beyond.

  • Development of business plans and operational priorities to meet goals and objectives of the organization.
  • Facilitation of processes for the delivery of scalable and high-quality systems platforms for autonomous driving systems and support systems.
  • Collaboration with other management and teams as needed to meet goals, monitor team performance, and achieve objectives.
  • Understanding of the technical domain of the team’s platform solutions
  • Career development and coaching of the team.
  • Selection and performance management of the teams.
  • Continuous performance feedback is being delivered
  • Compensation analysis in close collaboration with peer managers and People Operations.

What You’ll Need to Succeed: 

  • Ability to be a strategic partner to the organization and identify & plan how to meet future needs of the organization.
  • Expert knowledge and demonstrated leader of vehicle developments acting as an advisor to other leaders on relevant trends and emerging issues.
  • Ability to effectively manage a team of managers and professionals and identify opportunities to grow and develop the team.
  • Ability to evangelize best practices and promote consistent standards including test automation, observability, and performance metrics.
  • Experience leading teams that work with highly complex platform solutions.
  • Develop plans and anticipate the needs for incident response, security and compliance audits.

US Pay Range

$226,400$271,700 USD
