Position Summary
As the Director of Data, you will play a critical role in managing Agio’s data ecosystem and guiding architectural decisions. This mid-level people management and technical leadership role is ideal for a hands-on leader with a proven track record in data engineering, team management, and building scalable data solutions. You will work cross-functionally to harness the power of data and AI across our managed client environments, transforming disparate data sources into actionable insights that support our internal teams and client-facing solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Data Strategy & Architecture:
- Oversee the architecture, development, and management of data warehouses integrating hundreds of primary and secondary data sources.
- Ensure data aggregation, normalization, and analysis processes are robust, scalable, and aligned with business goals.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to identify and implement opportunities for AI- and data-powered enablement of Agio’s core services.
- Lead Agio’s AI strategy from a technical perspective, including model selection and infrastructure decisions.
Team Leadership:
- Manage and mentor a team of data engineers, AI and software developers, front end developers, and data scientists.
- Ensure the team operates efficiently by unblocking team members, managing workloads, and fostering a collaborative environment.
- Prioritize requests and stakeholder needs, helping the team focus on high-impact initiatives.
Technical Execution:
- Work with Product Managers to translate business needs and conceptual ideas into clear technical requirements and scoped projects.
- Establish and enforce best practices in data engineering and software development.
Resource Management:
- Allocate team resources effectively, balancing immediate needs with long-term objectives.
- Advocate for the team’s priorities, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
Scalability & Innovation:
- Ensure data solutions are designed for scalability to maximize development speed and effort.
- Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies to continuously enhance Agio’s AI and data capabilities.
Qualifications
Experience:
- Proven experience managing teams of data engineers, with exposure to other disciplines like software development or data science.
- Demonstrated success in architecting and managing data warehouses spanning numerous data sources.
- Familiarity with modern software development practices, such as CI/CD, version control, and agile methodologies.
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong ability to translate business needs into technical specifications and actionable plans.
- Expertise in resource management, ensuring teams remain focused and unblocked.
- Adept at helping teams prioritize among competing requests and stakeholder demands.
