As the Director of Product and Brand Marketing at PlayOn, you will be responsible for driving consumer marketing strategies focused on engaging fans and driving growth for our products. You will lead competitive intelligence efforts, go-to-market (GTM) campaigns for both new and existing products, and key brand initiatives that communicate our broader company story to our target market. In this role, you will work cross-functionally with product, growth, and creative teams to ensure a seamless and impactful marketing approach that resonates with our fanbase.

The outcomes you’ll deliver

- Increase in new paying subscribers from highly effective marketing campaigns and executions

- Positive brand affinity among our target audience through effective positioning

- Stronger customer retention through thoughtful campaigns that drive retentive feature adoption

In this Role, You Can Expect To

  • Build, lead, and execute consumer marketing strategies that drive growth, product adoption, and fan engagement.
  • Lead key brand campaigns that communicate PlayOn's broader narrative and resonate with our audience, from awareness to conversion.
  • Own the development and execution of GTM campaigns for new and existing consumer products, ensuring they align with company goals and resonate with our audience.
  • Guide A/B testing strategies to optimize product messaging and improve marketing campaign effectiveness.
  • Own competitive intelligence and market insights.
  • Conduct competitive analysis to track product performance, positioning, and industry trends.
  • Use insights from competitive intelligence to inform product and marketing strategies, positioning PlayOn’s offerings to stand out in a crowded market.
  • Synthesize customer feedback, industry trends, and competitor analysis to influence product roadmaps and marketing tactics.
  • Partner with product teams to provide customer and market insights that shape product development and roadmaps.
  • Leverage data and insights from customer feedback to drive continuous product improvements and optimize positioning for customer acquisition and retention.
  • Creative and brand oversight.
  • Inform and craft creative briefs across the business, ensuring that all brand and product communications deliver compelling, customer-centric messaging.
  • Partner with internal teams (growth, creative, design) to develop cohesive marketing materials that align with the product’s vision and our overarching brand strategy.
  • Ensure marketing assets and campaigns are optimized to drive maximum fan growth and engagement.

To Thrive in this Role, You Have

  • 8+ years of experience in consumer marketing, with a strong background in product marketing, brand marketing, or growth marketing in consumer-facing businesses.
  • Proven track record of successfully leading GTM campaigns for new products and managing key brand initiatives.
  • Deep understanding of competitive intelligence, product positioning, and market trends in the consumer tech and entertainment industries.
  • Strong ability to collaborate cross-functionally, influencing product roadmaps and campaign strategies with clear customer insights.
  • Experience in applying data-driven insights to marketing strategies, including A/B testing and optimization techniques.
  • Exceptional creative thinking and the ability to translate customer insights into compelling brand narratives and consumer-facing language.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and project management skills.
  • Strong understanding of fan culture and passion for the entertainment or sports industry is a plus.

How You Play

  • Ownership over Participation- You take responsibility for achieving holistic outcomes, prioritize key objectives, and adapt quickly when situations require a different approach. You follow through even against the toughest challenges.

  • Team over Stars- You are a bridge builder, establishing processes and relationships with teams outside your own. You work to rally around common goals, find win-win solutions, compromise when necessary, and help others succeed.

  • Growth over Comfort- You are driven by a desire to grow and actively seek opportunities to expand your comfort zone, skills, and confidence. You embrace new challenges with curiosity, accepting discomfort and failure as opportunities to learn.

  • Fairness over Popularity- You approach decisions with a scientist’s mindset, challenging your assumptions and remaining objective. You consider long-term impact rather than relying on short-term gains, proactively seek others’ perspectives, and manage emotions in decision-making.

Company Overview

PlayOn is a dynamic growth-stage company dedicated to championing the spirit of play in the high school space. Backed by KKR, our family of brands—including GoFan, NFHS Network, and VidSwap—empowers schools with innovative solutions and exceptional service. Our fan engagement platform is the only one that offers event ticketing, streaming, fundraising, concessions, merchandise sales, and website management in one place. Everyone wears the same jersey, and we play hard, make the extra pass, and cheer one another on. Losses teach us, challenges motivate us, and persistence drives us forward.
