Job Description:

We are looking for a Director of Audience & Insights for dentsu X. The purpose of this role is to act as an important driver of the A&I relationship and deliverables for key client(s). This includes articulating our goals, generating audiences and creating consumer insights, applying data science expertise to audience development, uncovering audience truths, creating inspiring strategic and media solutions and providing actionable recommendations for our teams and clients. You will be also instrumental in key agency goals including thought leadership POVs and participation in new business efforts.  You will report to the Head of Audience & Insights in NY, laddering up to the C-suite.  

This role is remote-friendly.

Strategic Thinking & Project Ownership 

  • Transform and Lead: Take proactive ownership in developing data-centered audiences that address key our goals. Your innovative ideas will drive success and make you an indispensable asset to both teams and clients. 

  • Audience Strategy: Lead a comprehensive Audience Strategy that assess our needs and transforms them into research strategies, plans, and long-term roadmaps. Shape work to create a compelling story with defendable data and actionable recommendations, elevating the agency's product. 

  • Innovate and Collaborate: Ensure all work is accurate, innovative, and actionable. Lead and propel the continuous improvement of all A&I approaches, and establish new insights products/solutions to position A&I as best in the industry. 

  • Solution-Oriented: Identify solutions, partners, and collaborations to move towards answers, even if not immediately available.  

  • Project Management: Execute multiple projects simultaneously while keeping manager/team informed of projects, workload and business opportunities 

Communication 

  • Create Connectivity: Your success requires a blend of verbal, written, and visual communication skills, complemented by comfort with numbers, algorithms, and methodologies.  

  • Compelling Storytelling: Shape work to create a compelling story with defendable data and actionable recommendations, elevating the agency's product. Deliverables are understood by both junior and senior teams and clients. 

  • Presentations: Feel comfortable and confident presenting to new business clients, our teams, and established clients at executive levels (e.g., pitches, QBRs, etc.). 

Data Mastery & Management 

  • Data Savviness Guru: Use multiple data sources to extract valuable insights and analyze correlations between client goals and outcomes. Data science expertise is important, and your ability to work with data will be a cornerstone of your success. 

  • Analytical Skills - Ability to analyze large datasets to extract meaningful insights and identify trends. Proficiency in statistical analysis, modeling techniques and clean rooms. Develop new audience-building solutions and approaches, and oversee and develop Audience Modeling for client 1PD. 

  • Problem Solving: Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to develop innovative solutions to complex data challenges. Experience designing and implementing predictive models and algorithms. 

  • Speak in Layman: Experience translating trends, data points and metrics into conversational English. Talent to explain critical points to others who may be less versed with data from research or measurement platforms 

Team, Internal and Client Management 

  • Role: Mentor team members, provide debriefs for improvement, and identify growth opportunities. Be a role model for team culture, celebrating diversity and inclusion. 

  • Internal Evangelism: Educate and promote A&I capabilities to our teams and ensure their understanding of our offerings. Build relationships with senior levels to develop trust and collaboration efforts. 

  • Client Relationships: Develop deep relationships with senior-level clients, promote, pitch, and sell incremental project work. Be the sounding board/expert on research and insights to advise clients on preferred approaches, partners, and investments. 

Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 9+ years’ experience in strategy, audience, insights or data science. 

  • Leadership experience defined as exerting influence from a product, relationship, or your knowledge of data and insights. 

  • Proficiency in audience insights and measurement, with experience with storytelling through data. 

  • Practical understanding and experience with data modeling and ability to explain and carry out best practices. 

  • Portfolio of past deliverables covering business intelligence, target engineering, consumer insights, media strategies, vendor brainstorming, thought leadership 

  • Success in building 360-degree relationships – with partners, among peers and with mentees 

  • Demonstrated experience with a range of research and insights tools, including desk research methodologies and third-party platforms (e.g., YouGov, GWI, Telmar), syndicated resources – such as MRI-Simmons, Nielsen Ad Intel, eMarketer, Mintel), brand measurement tools (BERA, BrandIndex, Kantar Brandz), cultural trends research (Canvas 8, Foresight Factory, Stylus), social listening platforms (Quid, Brandwatch), and custom research methods (Suzy, Instapanel), ensuring a comprehensive and nuanced understanding of market and audience insights. 

The anticipated salary range for this position is $113,000-$182,850. Salary is based on a variety of factors including relevant experience, knowledge, skills and other factors permitted by law.
